I just wanted to share some pics of my 'Temple of Doom' whip, which I received today.
Hand-made by Dusty (Crease N Corral), and a true beauty indeed. It is a 9ft, 12-plait, cowhide whip. Wonderfully plaited, perfectly balanced, astounding finish...I couldn't speak high enough of Dusty's craftsmanship and customer service!
Somebody in this forum was recently enquiring about where to buy a good Indy whip without spending silly money.
Well...Dusty is your man for a leather whip. He will deliver a screen-accurate work-of-art at a very affordable price. You don't have to spend several hundreds of bucks on a kangaroo-hide whip - stick to cowhide for a fraction of the price! And the finish is really beautiful.
I also cracked the whip soon after opening the box...and it is loud and responsive. Superb whip.
For Nylon whips, I can recommend James Emery (from classicwhips.com). I own one of his 10ft 'Raiders' whips, in natural-tan paracord, and it's a great item.
The same as I said when I got my 'Raiders' fedora from John Penman... My search for the perfect (and affordable) Indy whip has now come to an end after many years. The quest has ended. I need to seek no more.
There are only two things remaining to complete my perfect Indy gear collection:
- The 'Raiders' revolver (S&W 1917), by Tanaka Works
- The 'Raiders' shirt, by Azuma.
The first item I cannot import due to strict gun laws within the UK. The shirt...well, this very much depends on when Azuma gets to find the right fabric to start production. He's been searching for a long time now.
I couldn't be happier with my two whips.
The only real pain are the abusive Custom charges one has to face when living in the UK and importing stuff from outside the European Union! But those of you in the US are safe!!
I will one day post some pics of my full Indy gear - once this is complete.
In the meantime, I am attaching some pictures of my 'Temple of Doom' (Crease N Corral) whip, also shown together with my 'Raiders' nylon one - the latter made by James Emery.
Fortune and Glory to everybody!!
