This movie is going to be intense! I thought The Dark Knight was pushing some limits. This one looks like TDK x 100!
It's supposed to take place 8 years after The Dark Knight. The villains are going to be Selina Kyle (Catwoman), played by Anne Hathaway, and Bane, played by Tom Hardy. Bane was the character to broke Batman's back in the comics, by the way.
I saw this before Sherlock Holmes (which was really good) and it gave me shivers.

Yeah it does look good! And I still need to see Sherlocke Holmes. From what I've heard it's even better than the first.

I'm still diggin' the BBC remake of the original series "Sherlock".. One of the best TV series from the UK in recent years.. But then I've always been a Holmes nut...
The Batman movie though? This film is going to kill me.... Japan is nearly always a month or so later than the rest of the world, which will make it even harder to watch as everyone tells me what happens...But I know Nolan can hold the story up and I was really impressed with Hardy in "Warrior"..(If you haven't yet, WATCH IT!!).... So I'm sure the films going to rock..
I've loved every one so far...And from what I've seen of the new film, Nolan may well just have made the best film of 2012...(Which, by the way, seems packed with decent stuff!!)
If the world ends, I'm killing Satan unless he offers "drive through" viewings...
Just so we're clear beforehand..
Regards..

It looks like a seriously good movie. I loved Dark knight because...well because it was dark. I loved seeing batman portrayed the way i always thought he should be. Lets face it, you have to be twisted mentally to do what he does. I'm a fireman so I understand the whole twisted thing. Looking forward to this one for sure!

I have seen The Dark Knight Rises twice. First in a regular theater for the midnight showing and the next night in IMAX. I was very excited to see it, and it delivered. I have read many mixed reviews. I can't say I completely disagree to all of the negative ones, but over all I thought it was a great end to the Nolan Batman films.
I think a lot of people didn't like it because it wasn't as much like The Dark Knight as they wanted. Its tone was much more like Batman Begins. Maybe that's why I liked it so much. I'm in a rare group who prefer BB to TDK. Even though I love TDK, Begins left a huge impression on me. It reaffirmed my faith in Batman movies. Nolan delivered for me in TDK and didn't disappoint me with Rises.
I highly recommend this movie! Very, VERY highly.

Saw it in a marathon which culminated in the midnight premiere. So much fun to see all three in a row with a crowd of die hard fans. I loved the movie and thought it was a really worthy conclusion to the trilogy. Not since Return of the King have I seen such a fitting end to a great movie trilogy/series. I've seen the movie twice now and what I thought of as plot holes were cleared up upon second viewing. Great movie and so glad to see that Christopher Nolan and company have broken the Comic Book Trilogy Curse.

Thought it was terrible. A brain-dead script that never ceased to patronize the audience. Nolan's always had problems with being far too verbose, but this is, perhaps, the worst of it yet. And the very worst of it is how he ruins the bloody ending of the film in the first act (Alfred's stupid monologue-- tell me why it was necessary to illustrate that scene so we already had the imagery fully in place, effectively removing any suspense the film might have earned?).
It was Indy4 bad as far as I'm concerned and everyone involved should be deeply ashamed.

I have to agree with Josh and Niagra.....
I didn't find the film "patronising" at all..Nor "verbose" actually...I felt Nolan has managed to find a great way to make a character like that work for both those who know him well and those who just wanted a great movie to watch...It was inspired filming, and I agree with the view that it's restored my faith in movies somewhat (Avengers as well..Although not in the same way)...
I've only seen it three times, but I think that counts for more, because Japan charges 2000yen per ticket..LOL..So I'm paying more than you guys!! LOL
I'd see it again, willingly......Avengers was brilliant, but for a real "experience", nothing beats the Dark Knight trilogy...
I can't wait for Blu Ray.....

I've seen it three times and I thought it was a great movie. I mean not just for a superhero movie, but film in general. Good story, action, score, etc. Very fitting end to a trilogy.
I sorta agree with Josh, I kinda prefer Batman Begins over The Dark Knight. Not really sure why. But that's not to say I don't like TDK, I think it's great as well. Although The Dark Knight Rises is easily my favorite of the trilogy.
I'm a big fan of the soundtracks as well. This film had some good themes, like Bane's. Sounds menacing and intimidating. Good job by Hans Zimmer.
I know it was a trilogy, but I wish they'd do more though!

I really loved the soundtrack as well. That rousing score as Batman's theme just gets me so pumped up. Emotionally I think The Dark Knight Rises really resonates all of the themes that Nolan established in the first two films, with some watery eyed scenes (especially with Alfred). There was a lot of conviction to the performances. Tom Hardy's Bane was seriously intimidating, and what he conveyed with his voice and eyes alone were very powerful. Christian Bale really shined in this movie as well. I really felt for him. I can't wait to get this on Bluray!

Yeah I agree, like that two-note motif Batman theme is great. I really like it starts off slow and soft, and it slowly builds up and gets you pumped. That part when Bruce is climbing out of the pit and he emerges at the top gave me goosebumps. The music for that scene on the soundtrack is "Why Do We Fall?". One of my favorite tracks.
Yeah I found myself getting slightly teary-eyed at the end when Alfred spoke. Tom Hardy was great as Bane. Early on I remember hearing doubts about him, but he pulled it off well. He was very different in this than some of his other roles. The same with Gary Oldman where he usually plays the bad guy, but as Gordon he plays a good guy. Good actors. Christian did great as Batman as usual. I was pleasantly surprised by Anne Hathaway, at first I thought she was an odd choice for Catwoman since she's never done a role like this before, but she performed very well.
Can't wait for Blu-Ray too! BTW The Avengers is coming out on Blu-Ray and DVD in one week!!

I was just telling someone today that this has been a really good year for movies. If I had told my fifth grade self that in the same year I would be seeing Star Wars (even if it was TPM in 3D), Spiderman (Even if it was The Amazing Spiderman-which I didn't really care for all that much, but was still entertaining enough), Batman (The Dark Knight Rises), Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and the forth coming Hobbit, all on the big screen, I would have probably died! hahaha Avengers was awesome as well! Totally different kind of comic book movie, but so much fun to watch!
But I digress. I was very apprehensive about having Bane and Catwoman in the last Nolan Batman film, but as more and more time went on and I saw what they were doing with them in previews and clips, I was slowly getting excited. After seeing the opening sequence that had leaked, I was convinced that Nolan and co would deliver.
I loved Anne Hathaway. I was really not happy when I heard she was cast, but she blew me away with her performance. I loved that she played both sides to her advantage and that on the turn of a dime she could act completely different, so you never knew when to trust her. Any doubts about her being cast were removed instantly when I saw the scene in the bar when she hands the fingerprints to Bane's cronies. She completely convinced me.
