Havana... Was Indy's necktie just a regular black one or is there a particular style I should be looking for? By the way thanks for the gear link. We can always use those around here. Maybe we can end up offering alternative links to items that are over at COW then that way people aren't getting the exact same thing over here and they have more options to choose from.

I think the Last Crusade tie was a black wool tie. Just about any black tie with a matte finish should do the trick. They're surprisingly hard to find in retail stores. If you do manage to find a solid tie, it seems they're always shiny.

I have glanced off an on at some black ties here in the local stores and your right they seem to all look like their made of silk. Most usually have some other color on them as well. I do have an army surplus store here in town were I got one of my web belts. They may have some there as well. I personally have gone for more of the "Raiders look" with my gear so I never really looked into getting a neck tie. I don't know how it would look with any of my current shirts. I may wait and get one if I ever get a shirt that's closer to the color and look of the LC one.

I guess the other question would be what shirt "Close-Enough" or other makes a great LC shirt to go with the tie. I believe the closest Indy shirt I have that would look right with a tie would be my pilot shirt but it's not the right color for an LC shirt. I bet that NH shirt looks great with one.

If you feel like dyeing your pilot shirt, I have a good combination of Rit dyes that would work well. 1 package of Rit "Taupe" and 1/2 package of Pearl Grey on a white shirt for 15 to 20 seconds should do nicely. 10 to 15 seconds on an off white or cream colored one. But, I will take a photo with the NH shirt, LC style to see how that particular tie looks with it. That first link with the really cheap ties posted by Havana, will be awfully tough to beat! Ken

Ok, cool. I look forward so seeing the shirt and tie together. By the way what do the other "gear heads" who go for the LC look wear shirt wise? All of that time over at COW and I never really gave the LC look much thought because I was so interested in all of the "Raiders gear".

Looks LC enough to me. (::cough:: Never was a fan of the LC tie with the gear look. ::cough: Still, the Raiders NH looks great with the tie for those who like the LC stuff. ::ADDED:: I forgot to say that it doesn't change the fact that the tie shop is a great resource! Amazing how many suits you can get out of different neckties and this place has a great selection. AND it has tutorial links on how to tie various ties which is REALLY cool! Thanks, Havana!

I was never a fan of the tie in LC either, but I decided that I could do an alternate LC look for dressing nice, yet non Indy. That's why I'm wearing a "close-enough" tie as well! Thanks, Ken

That shirt and tie really do look good together. Thank you for posting those shots, Blues. If this did anything it made me realize now more than ever I've really got to get a NH shirt. ;D I'm with you Tone I never understood why they put that tie on him in LC. I guess to make a slight alteration to the "look" and to make his character seem to be more mature or something. I remember getting up real early one morning to watch the Today Show because they were going to be the first to visit the set while they were filming LC. I remember seeing Ford as Indy with that tie on and not liking it then and I still don't really like it now but it has grown on me....a little. I will probably try to get one just for the sake of having it and maybe do some LC gear shots if I can find a shirt that would go well with it or get the NH one.
