I honestly think that MOST people just go with the what the trend is..IF all the so called "true" indy fans thought KOTCS was an incredible adventure I would assume these threads would be little to none..People seem to go along with popular opinion..I can give lots of examples..but here is one.. Justin Bieber..popular but sux..

Say what you like, but I liked Crystal Skull. Sure there was some
silly things in it, but so what? It's still an indy movie! Honestly my
least favorite of the 4 was Temple of Doom, that one was just
ridiculous in my opinion. I look forward to a 5th indy movie, if it
bears the name Indiana Jones I'll see it, that's just how it is.
That's just my opinion...

His comment about the skies in Raiders being genuine is bull. And he illustrates his point with a shot just moments before a FAKE shot of a sky. The stormy sky as they're opening the Well of the Souls is an effects shot. And I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't the sky outside Pankot Palace when they first arrive a matte painting as well?

My gripe with Indy 4 was that it was literally the culmination of several scripts thrown into one. Because of the lack of focus it fell apart towards the end. The first half up until they got to the graveyard was (in my estimation) a worthy addition to the series. After that it just went all over the place. It's pretty evident that the mixing of separate script ideas was what happened (and ultimately why the film didn't work as a whole, though there were parts that did) as evidenced in The Complete Making of Indiana Jones book.
Great book by the way. I will always defend the fridge being nuked as it still fits within the genre of the Indiana Jones world. The whole premise being that Indy will get in way over his head try to get out and can't and at the last second does something out of sheer desperation and fate steps in and it works. That to me, sums up what makes watching these movies so much fun. We know he won't die, but because we have no idea HOW he'll get out of the messes he gets in is what keeps us coming back for more. He can take a beating and still survive.
