Tone, I would suggest handwarmers. It's a must nowadays. The only reason there weren't handwarmers on the original, is because servicemen look sloppy standing there with their hands in their pockets. If your getting it for an alternative to use on colder days, than might as well keep those hands warm too. 'Blues

Yeah, no sense in not having the extra pockets for handwarmers; besides, Mrs. Tone will most likely snatch it from me in the times when it is that cold. (It always works like that.) ;D Stefana, thanks for the heads up on that jacket. Thing is, it has the "aged pattern" to it which gives it an almost uniformly fakeish look. Does that make sense, guys? Reminds me of the bombers they had back in the day when you couldn't find the Indy, so you found "aged" bombers that had this pattern to them. Still, for that price, if someone wants a bomber, it's not bad. It's made by Banana Republic which reminds me of the ones I had that didn't fit the way they actually should have back then. I'm leaning toward the closer fitting authentic bombers that aren't cut so much for modern fashion. (Then again, isn't that an impossibility if even the current A-2s have seen some modification?) The USWing Goats are on sale for $206.00. I haven't seen bombers (especially mil-spec) that inexpensive.

I recommend getting one with 100% real wool knits. They fit better and look much, much better. Wool knits don't bead like the synthetic ones. However, if you think you'll be exposed to prolonged rain or snow, I say get the synthetic knits because they won't shrink up on you when wet. I don't want to derail this thread here but the G1 jacket is also a nice alternative to consider. You can get them with detachable collars. The same wool vs. synthetic rule goes for the G1 collars too.

That is a B-E-A-yootiful jacket! Congrats G-MANN. I've always been in love with the A-2, probably one of the reasons I like the Indy one so much. Course I always liked Fonzie's jacket too. Got a craving for one of these. I'm holding out for the right vintage horsehide.

Cool jacket ! Personally, I love that liner. I once saw one just like it on ebay, but after getting my own Cooper (without that special liner )

Coopers are fine jackets. The current Coopers are not WWII authentic but they are authentic to the modern USAF. here were 2 kinds being issued when I was in the USAF: Cooper and Avirex. My unit commander was an F-117 flight leader. He wore his Cooper A-2 in his F-117 on the first raid of the 1991 Gulf War. These jackets have a military history, it's just a more modern history. Wear it with pride.

Thanks guys! I really like the look of the jacket, and the liner doesn't bother me in the least. I actually like it, and was one of the reasons I went after it. No one will see it while I wear it anyway. As of now, I'm not THAT concerned with authenticity, but I like having all the basics covered. It looks like a winner to me, and I'm glad I didn't have to spend big bucks on it. PLUS, like Havana stated, it's from a company that did supply jackets to the Air Force for some time. I will give a review when I receive it. 'Blues

OK, got the jacket yesterday. It is in great shape, almost mint, save for a small fray on one cuff. The jacket is clean as a whistle, and looks to have been either never worn, or kept in pristine condition. I tired it on, and it fits great in the body, but there is a little bit of constriction in the movement. If I try to cross my arms, the back gets tight. It's weird, because the shoulders seam perfect, and there is plenty of room when it is zipped up. I'll post some pics shortly. 'Blues

OK, pics......seems to look like an OK fit. Maybe that's the nature of the beast with A-2s. What do you think? 'Blues

Thanks guys. The color is very close to my dark brown goat Wested. Just a hint more russet tone in the A-2 though. 'Blues

Sorry I missed replying to this one... I'm glad to hear the jacket was in such great shape when it arrived. It looks like a couple of weeks of wear, and this baby should settle right into your specific shape. Coolness.... Ken

Well, I'm actually contemplating selling this A-2, sadly. I've been wearing it on and off since I got it, and I think the sleeves are too short. The body fits perfectly, and I love the length, and overall look, but as soon as I raise my arms, to work, to drive, whatever,...the sleeves ride up, and the back feels tight. I may have to go up a size, or maybe just look for a 46Long, from the same, maker, COOPER. You folks that own A-2s,....do you find your jackets fit this way?? Kind of short in the sleeves? I'm wondering if this is normal for this style jacket. 'Blues

My Cooper A2 does exactly the same thing...
And look at the pic Alabama Jones posted on page 2 of this thread, Harrison Ford wearing the A2 in "Hanover Street", he's just holding the girl in his arms ( and only his forearm is up) and his sleeves ride up also. I guess it's typical of the "military specs" A2.

Yup, my A-2 does it as well. Its because the jacket doesn't have action pleats or gussetts. If (and when) I ever buy another jacket with knit cuffs and waist it will a ANJ-3. Its basically an A-2 and G-1 rolled into one jacket. The gussets and action back really make it a super comfortable jacket.
