I've recently re-shaped my AdVintage Junior Fedora. I'd originally bought it pre-bashed, ( seemed like a good idea at the time) but was never quite happy with it. Then, when I got my Fed IV I realised that not only was the crown not quite right, but the brim was about a centimetre too big. So after getting some advice from a fellow Indy fan and fedora wearer, (thanks, Glenville) I set about trimming the brim. I put the AdVintage and the Fed together, opening to opening, then with a fine tipped ink pen drew around the Fed directly onto the larger brim of the other hat. Next, using sharp scissors I slowly, carefully and very bravely, cut around the line I'd drawn. Then using fine grain sandpaper I removed the excess from the edge of the brim and gave it a nice smooth, even finish. Next was the crown. I popped out the pinch and bash, stuffed the inside of the crown with as much news paper as I could, then steamed the outside over a boiling kettle. After leaving it like this for about a week, I removed the news paper and was left with a nice open crown. Then, using Mr Penman's excellent tutorials on YouTube, and a little more steam, I was able to give my AdVintage a shape that I'm much more happy with. Here are a couple of before and after photos. Those on the left are before, on the right, after. (The colour looks a little different because I took the 'befores' on a very cloudy day) I've softened the pinch a little more since then, and I'm much happier with it
