After having exhausted practically every Army Surplus outlet in Houston (well a couple spots...Houston's a pretty big place) and having no luck finding some replica / make do trousers....I went the cheap and happy route and found some at Wal Mart. Yep, Wal Mart. Hey, they got some great John Wayne movies on sale right now and some other Turner Classic Movies at great prices too.
I found some Wrangler brand dress pants with pleats at Wal Mart for about $22. They have some flat fronts too that I might have to go back and get seeing as how they would be good for the classroom.
They are not Timber Creek, least I don't think, as the thread from some 10 years ago on here spotlights but I think they are the the most recent version, I guess. They are in the "Bark" color that you could find on Wrangler's website as Timber Creek. No where on these that I bought do they say Timber Creek, but they do have a somewhat "green / olive" hue to them. I tried them on with my Coyle's (Todd's Costume) shirt and it's looks ok. It doesn't suit my anal taste for the long haul of my "costume", but for now, it'll due.
They do have a slight "stretch" waist & the label's say will advance 2 waist sizes. I felt my regular size of 38's were a little bit loose in the waist and the crotchal region, so I opted for the 36's-plus the length was way to long at 32 inches. I also went for a 29 inseam instead of my usual 32's. The 32's length in these pants drug under my heels and once home with the original Indy Boots Alden 403's, they fit just perfect....no Millitary hem here, sorry.
