I found them in Austin Tx at a local mens store. I just did a google search and that store came up; couldn't believe it because it was a short walk away from a great record/cd shop I used to always go to there in Austin.
I had to go down a complete full size, from 10 to 9. They had several pairs and I tried them all on the see what fit the best...and it was the 9 no doubt. They gave me all the paperwork to send back to Alden if I ever need to get them "reconditioned" and a bag to ship them in.
If you are ever in Austin, Tx stop by By George at 5th and South Lamar.

Sorry...I originally posted these as 405's. With all the discussions on forums about 405 and 403, it was hard to keep all things straight.
So....what do people feel about 403's?

looks awesome to me. I would love to get a pair of the 403
How was the sizing for you? Did you get your normal size or did you have to make a size change like some people have mentioned?

The store I bought them from had several sizes to choose from. I wear a 10 in most every brand of running shoes; I can say with confidence a 10 in any Nike shoe will fit. Of course we are talking about a high end well made shoe and after trying on a 10....too big. Then a 9.5 was a little long in the toe. When I tried on the 9, I can tell right away, that if fit correctly...so that is what I got, a 9.

Those are mighty fine, but so damn expensive. I have a pair of Todds. Only wore them 2 times outside and the heel has visibly worn so might not be durable but look pretty good.
Do you polish yours, they look polished? Id worry how to take care of such an expensive boot. But I supposed Indy boots are supposed to look like they been worn and on an adventure.

Alden 403's look great....Recently, the 405's leather colour has been darkened some to bring them both more in line with each other, so the 403 looks great for Indy boots, and the 405's only plus point is the fact that it was the 405 that was used in the films....No real noticeable difference outside of that as they are being made now....(The 405's used to be lighter red/brick coloured)...Very cool shoes..
As for taking care of the boots, it's actually very easy...They only require a Pecard-ing or two when they get badly scuffed for them to be brought back to "new and shiny" looking...Depending on what you want to do with them....You don't need to polish them, just a brush down with some Pecards or other proper leather care product and a brush does it fine for me....
They're the best shoes I own....Lovely to wear, great in both Indy costume and suit and tie wear too.....If you wanted to dirty them up, that's easy enough to do as well, but I've opted for natural distressing....Wear them, and let what happens, happen..
I'd suggest getting some shoe trees...They'll help maintain the shape perfectly and prevent the sag and leather getting worn in too quickly, but again, it depends on what you're looking to do with the boots...
Regards..

Thank you for providing some information, Ben. I have some questions though. 1. Exactly, what Pecards product? I do not want the stiching/laces at the toe to turn color. I want to preserve the leather only somewhat. I want the natural distressing to happen as well, but want them to last a long time. 2. What kind/example of shoe trees. I have never bought any and I happened to be in a shoe doctor type store and saw about 5 different "models" of shoe trees and wandered, "When did these get that complicated."
Oh....and I love these 403's, they look and comfort. The color and look to me is unlike any thing else you will see while out on the town. I am usually very much for original and authentic, but these look like what Indy would wear albeit at the 'start' of his career.

just got my own pair of 403s this morning. Pretty much a full size difference here too.
I usually wear a 9 but had to get the 8. I think i could have squeezed into a 7.5 but the 8 felt perfect.
I cant wait to see what adventures ill have in them.
On another note, I have both the pecards cream and dressing. Which would be best to treat the boots with?

Sorry this reply took so long...I rarely visit here anymore..

Nice boots Aldens, but far too expensive. Theres a pair of red wings that ive seen that look rather simiar to this boot for £229 sterling.
Does anyone know what red wing boot is most Indylike btw? Ive just got the 213.
