My God I never intended to start all this...just wanted an opinion on a hat...My apologizes to everyone involved!! To those involved, I am sorry.
Personally I like the Penman's, I also like the Steele and Jones hats. Personally, I like the LC hat over the others, but that is my opinion and I do not intend to offend anyone that likes the Raiders, Skull of Temple hat over the Crusade hat.
Again, I am sorry to have started a war. I appreciate everyone's out takes on all the gear because, I have asked a lot of questions on several different things and have put myself out there on numerous occasions for those opinions...
With respect...
Nathan

Nathan- you have absolutely nothing to apologise for. So don't worry.
If you have any other questions- don't be afraid to ask. Most of us are here to help you out.
Why do you like the LC hat the most? Everyone has their favourites. So nothing wrong with that.

Not real sure to be honest. but I have always liked that hat. I think that the brim does that "swoosh" thing. I just remember thinking it was my favorite. I like all the hats, but I think that the bash is great and the hat itself is great.

Aw man!!!! I hope I wasn't offensive. If I was, I apologize too!! Last thing I want to do is make people feel like they can't ask a question without starting a war. I try to stay on topic and answer questions as they are presented (for whatever my 2 cents are worth), but i certainly welcome criticisms and suggestions. Anyway......... Back to the topic.......the LC bash in my opinion is a classy bash. As well as the CS bash. The good thing about all these different options is that......you have all these options!!! How lucky are we?!!?!! Back in the day there was NOTHING so easily accessible for us common folk. Thank goodness for all these manufacturers! Well when you purchase your hat don't forget to share pics!!

When George Lucas and company created the Indiana Jones image , it was the fedora that became the most prominent identifying feature . One glance at that profile and you know . So by definition this cannot be a shrinking violet kind of hat . The very essence of this image is the largeness of the fedora . Even compared to other popular hats of the period , like those worn by the likes of Bogey and Cagney , the Indy hat looks larger than life . I've heard that in the movie 'Gladiator' , they made the helmets on the Roman soldiers larger than OEM in order to create a certain image . It is the same with the Indiana Jones character I think . So , getting back to essence , perhaps it really is size that counts .

I will be sure to post pics!! I have decided to be the first (I think) to buy the Steele and Jones Crusade fedora on this forum. I would get a Penman, but my finances right now will not allow it and the Steele and Jones is more in my range. I have had my eye on it for a while but I was just testing the waters to see if there was another one in the same price range.
Thank you everyone that has chimed in and gave me all the opinions and thoughts.
To John, your hats are wonderful and I'll be getting one from you still in the future...
Fifthchamber...Ben..your the best (and my Magnoli boots are awesome!)
jnicktem..your hat looks great and thank you for the comments and opinions. To everyone else that has helped me in some way or another...Thank you all!

Indybyrd...
For a first hat, you'd never go wrong with a Steele & Jones.. They look like wonderful pieces of gear for the price! I was first with an Akubra, and I love it, but I would put the Steele & Jones somewhere above them simply due to the handmade aspect of the deal... It's a little more love-involved..You'll be very happy indeed with the choice...
And yeah, the Magnoli boots would kick too..(PHOTOS!! PLEASE!! ;-)
Warmest regards, and please don't think the issue here started because of you...It didn't....And it's all sorted anyway! So no worries!
All the best!

I'd have to say Penman. Like the guys and gals said, the quality is top notch and you can trust John like you can a brother. I have never heard of anyone having trouble with ordering/pricing/fitting their fedora. Though I have never owned one, he would be the first one I would go to because of the magnificent compliments I have heard. As for the Herbert Johnson, I have never seen a picture of a customer with one so who knows how well it looks in person. Ive only seen a photograph on the website. The other hats are also great. Just depends on your price range dude. Good Luck to ya!

Great! I've bought my own Aldens recently, but have always wanted to see what Magnoli was putting out footwear wise as well... Would be very interested in them!
