Hey y'all.
I'm a newbie here and just now getting into Indy gear. I have an Indiana Jones brand fedora just to start out with and some indyish boots and pants ill post pics eventually
I have a PVC jacket which i like. Non indyish. Can this be softened or distressed any way? I plan on getting some real gear when funding allows.

PVC jacket? Is this a non-Indy jacket that you're looking to use as a "close enough" Indy jacket substitute until you have sufficient funds to spring for a real leather Indy jacket? And if so, is this the reason why you're looking to distress it? Or are you just looking for general advice on how to soften up a PVC jacket in general (unrelated to gear / Indy purposes)?

PVC is a vinyl kind of stuff that is one solid color, usually with a fiberous backing of some sort. I guess you could make it look beat up but not really "worn", maybe just shredded a bit. What size do you wear, anyway? Often some nice used stuff on the boards worth picking up...

Oh no it's not close at all. I'm on a firefighter salary so money is always tight. I've been looking for quite a while at real Indy jackets but they're just so darn expensive. It's hard coming up with the money and justifying it for that matter when there's so much that needs it elsewhere.

I think from looking at all the different jackets that I'd be a large normal fit and a medium full fit. I've been checking the used item threads so hopefully I will find something I can afford.
