WOW...that hat is BEAUTIFUL! It's been a few years since I've had a new hat and these pics remind me of the thrill I'd get taking one of Marc's masterpieces out of the box for the first time. I had forgotten about that blue liner logo as well...I really like the look of that logo. The hat itself is amazing of course. Is this hat going to be a CS style with the looser pinch? 'Cause it seems to be begging for a nice Raiders bash... ;D Thanks for posting and congrats!

Thanks guys! I have already tightened the pinch a bit. What is really cool about this hat is how easy it is to shape it. It's like working with clay. I have already given it a Raiders front pinch, worn it like that for the day, and that night popped it back out to a CS pinch... and you would never know it had a sharper crease in it. Just fantastic. Right now the pinch is about halfway between a Raiders and a CS. I think it suits me.

Just fantastic. Right now the pinch is about halfway between a Raiders and a CS. I think it suits me. It's always great to be able to find your own personal style when it comes to bashing an Indy fedora. Despite my affinity for the Raiders style, I still think I personally look better in more of a loose pinch LC/CS style with a slightly lower pinch height. Then again, I would look better if I lost some weight but I'm still a fat ass. ;D And I know exactly what you mean by the felt. Of the two ABD's I own, there are some slight differences between the felt used on each hat. The felt on my original ABD (ABD #1) is slightly thicker, darker and the felt is not as smooth as on #2. ABD #2 was made using the run of "Ford felt" that Marc had on hand as he was making his share of the hats for KotCS at the same time as he was making my second fedora, and he used some of that same felt for my hat, which I thought was awfully nice and very cool. However, as much as I love both ABD's, I have found the felt on #1 (the darker, thicker stuff) to be slightly easier to shape and very responsive to subsequent reshapings (see my latest thread for more info on that ;D ) - the felt is simply remarkable. Anyways, congrats on a great hat once again! Enjoy it!

Great looking hat! It looks fantastic and I usually prefer the Raiders bash on a fedora but this one looks just great with CS style, personally the CS is my second favorite bash out of all of them...

It was the Raiders hat that first got me interested in Indy gear and hats altogether. But after looking at and wearing a few hats for awhile I decided that I really liked the CS hat as well. It has just such a classy look- but also like something you could bring on an adventure. So with this hat I went for a bash somewhere right in the middle of the two!

Congratulations Jnicktem , that is one serious uptown piece of merchandise you got there . You are redefining cool , man . This has been hashed over a thousand times , but would you tell me what the difference is between your AB Deluxe , and the AB made by Steve Delk . I own a Raiders hat from Peters Bros , and while it is a beautiful fedora , and fairly representative I think , the darn thing is as stiff as a board , and it resists every effort on my behalf to soften it up . Even called the company for advice , but got little satisfaction . It is like some cowboy hats where every time it rains on it , the felt stiffens up . Anyway , I've heard great things about AB and AB Deluxe . Jnicktem , you are a very dedicated Indy fan . Kudos to you .

Thank you!
The AB Deluxe is made by Marc in Germany, simply using the finest materials in the world. The only things that are the same with Steve's AB's are the liner and the ribbon. The felt is made in Portugal, and is very dense and finished to a smooth and velvet like surface. The sweatband is made from kangaroo hide, which Marc sourced from a place in Australia that is then sent to his sweatband maker. Also Marc is a perfectionist, and it shows in his work.
The AB made by Steve is a fantastic hat, using the best materials available in the USA. Also, Steve has most likely handmade more hats than any other hatter.... ever. When it comes to Steve and making hats, it's like an art. He knows just what to do to make you a hat that will last a lifetime.

That jacket your AB Deluxe is resting on looks suspiciously like an ANJ-4 . I was looking at the one from Lost Worlds Inc , but I'd have to discover the treasure of the Sierra Madre before I could afford it . What a jacket .

Beautiful hat! As for the change in the front pinch style, it just goes to show you, you have to give it your own shape for it to truly be "your's". Same with your whip.
Awesome hat!

You can do that with these hats??? Man I'm scared to even snap the brim down! LOL!! Can't wait to see your pics!

Marc has simply the best felt in the world. If you know how to work with good high quality felt you can shape it however you want.

Well... I have a closet full of AB's and Penmans.... plus I have spoken to both John and Marc MANY times in regards to hat making and shaping. After awhile you can just acquire a touch for it and know what the felt can and won't do. Here are a couple of pics I just snapped of my newest AB Deluxe- showing the new slightly tighter front pinch.
