Just to throw another hat in the ring... you might want to also consider a Garrison hat. He is offering the rabbit version for only $175... it's a steal for a custom made hat (by a guy who was taught by Steve Delk). www.garrisonhatters.com/

Is it just the pics or are his SOC brims too wide and his crowns too short? I think I'll just stick with the Shubert.

It's just the pics. He uses dimensions very close to what Steve Delk uses (and his Raiders hats are among the most SA Raiders hats available).
I myself placed an order for a Garrison Hat.

OK. The Shubert hat just draws my eye more, and not dissing Mr. Garrison or anything, but I prefer the Shubert.

The crown looks too tall on the Shubert.
Then again, it could just be the pictures.

Yup, I stretched the pics. His Raiders Hat is accurate, can't wait to buy it. Although, some people have been emailing him about it since he openly posted his offer on F&G... Oh, boy...

The only problem I have with the Schubert is it looks great by itself... but it doesn't look right when it's on someone's head. The brim seems to warp in a weird way and the crown doesn't look the same. Just my opinion.
And accuracy is in the eye's of the beholder. To me, Penman, AB, and Garrison also make accurate hats.

Welp, he PM'ed me this morning. He is now wanting to just give the hat to his SON, which he didn't mention at ALL when he offered the hat to me. So I guess the deal's off, and my wool Dorfman will have to suffice...

As I said over on COW (To EXACTLY the same post...Why bother?), why not use Garrison Hatters...They sell for 200 dollars, have a rather exceptional block, great training, and more people saying "I prefer them" than your average Hatter too.. And more to the point, more than are saying the Schubert would have been a good choice...Since you can no longer do that deal, why not cough up the extra ten dollars and get the hat that EVERYONE, on BOTH sites has suggested ALL ALONG that you buy? No?

I was worried something like this would happen. I figured you would have your heart set on buying something, without really caring that there would be other options out there that could be equal or even better.
This can be an expensive hobby- if you don't keep your mind open you can lose lots of cash real quick. Don't just dwell over a single item thinking it is the holy grail- make sure you look at everything available before making a decision.

Very true, that. I chucked $2-300 away on hats that I didn't really want/like in the end. I learned, but at great expense. At least it was good hat-bashing practice.

Believe it or not- I have owned in the past 4 years somewhere around 20 hats. These hats ranged from the dorfman, to the Akubra, to Penman, to Adventurebilt, and even the Adventurebilt Deluxe. I have owned hats of all kinds of quality- and let me tell you- when you save up and buy a great-quality hat right off the bat- you will actually be saving yourself money. Not only will it save you money because it will last a lot longer, but you won't end up regretting it and selling it off at a huge discount to buy a better hat.

And then there was THIS in my mailbox: 'But I'm going to talk to my son and see if he may want an AT-AT instead!' ?? Great, now I'm DEADLOCKED again.

I really don't see why you have your heart set on that particular hat. There are other options out there in your price range that are equal to and even BETTER than that one!

Any man who offers to sell you a hat, then changes his mind, gives it to his son, then changes his mind AGAIN and offers his son an At-At is probably NOT someone I'd feel great about trusting with 200 dollars....I'm sure he's good for it...But his attitude is NOT professional, and I like to deal with professional people who make GREAT hats..
However, I can see that WHATEVER myself, Nick, Abner and EVERYONE else says, you aren't really "asking" at all...So why on earth should we bother providing you with answers when you pose rhetorical questions like this?
Do yourself a favour, buy from Garrison. His hats are great, well made, and cheap, and he's a GOOD maker...For EITHER hat, SoC OR normal Raiders...Stop being so flippant...You asked, and we ALL said you should use Garrison...
So use him.
Or STOP posting threads that are NEVER meant to go anywhere at all...None of us like talking to brick walls..
Regards.

Hi there, "Shubert" here. Some of you boys need to settle down a tad, and Bullwhip, you need to stop taking PERSONAL emails regarding my 3 year old son out of context and posting them in the internet. For the record, seeing I'm kind of getting slagged off on the internet for no real reason, I may as well set the record straight. I saw a post by Bullwhip on Fortune and Glory where he was asking around about where to get a decent Raiders hat from, talking a $300 price point. I thought, hey, I may as well sell my prototype, so I bumped him a PM, offering him the very reasonable price of $200 plus postage. Next thing I know, a bunch of things happen simultaneously. I get numerous other PM requests for one of my hats, Bullwhip starts trying to negotiate the price down even further, and my son grabs the hat which I had pulled out to check over for Bullwhip like he hasn't done for months, so I start to think I don't really need the money. I PM'd Bullwhip to let him know this, and that I may have written too hastily, so I needed some time to think about it. (As in a few days. Jeez.) From that Bullwhip somehow jumped to the mistaken conclusion I was telling him to take a hike and so I had to clarify, no, I am still thinking. I wanted to make sure I wasn't robbing my THREE YEAR OLD SON of something he loved, and considering alternatives in order to follow through for Bullwhip. Remember, it wasn't like I had posted the hat up for sale - it was an off-the-cuff thing in the first place. So now I find out this whole other dialogue has been going on on these boards? Swell. Bullwhip, I respect your taste in hats, but mate, conduct a personal, private conversation like a guy, not recounting snippets as part of a sewing circle and making me seem like a dick. PS, I agree that Garrisson, alongside ~Fedoraiders~ makes the Raiders hat with the most accurate block shape. ...aside from my own of course.

Hey "Gunslinger"...
I wouldn't worry Sir...Most of us here are more than aware of Bull's use of "bull"....He's gone from one vendor to another offending most as far as I can tell, and doing it all online and publically...
For my part, I'm sorry that I assumed he might be telling the truth here about you...And I'm glad you said what actually happened..Forgive me.
Bullwhip, seriously, dude...You NEED to stop being such a muppet.....You insulted Bernardo when talking about Dusty, then Dusty when talking about someone else, and now you've pissed off another (rather competent) vendor in an effort to do....What exactly?
Stop being so bloody vocal...Just shut up and THINK before you insult anyone/write anything/ask questions..
Please.

Love my Schubert SoC With that and my rabbit raiders AB I need no other Indy hats. There comes a point when you just have to accept that it's not the hats fault you're not actually morphed into Dr Jones...

If any members of this forum are being harrassed by another member either openly or via PM's please contact me and I will put an abrupt end to it.
I have made a few polite warnings openly in the For Sale section but I guess I may need to come down a bit harder on a few folks.
Heed this as a final warning.
