Hey All, I thought I'd share some photographs from the fieldwork I participated in these last few months. The fieldwork was done in the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Rock shelter with fire blackening on the right side of the ceiling with lichen growing over it (indication that the blackening is not recent). Pack-rat midden in the lower left corner of the shelter and a grounding stone in the center. Pictographs and a modern carving (what we call an idiot-glyph ) A bifacial flake made of red chert. A "hole-in-top" can, historic artifact circa 1920s. Petroglyph panel, contains an anchor (modern), a bighorn sheep, a 'J'-shape, and two unknown glyphs. Petroglyph panel, contains two zoomorphs, an anthropomorph, two feet, and a bighorn sheep. Petroglyph panel, contains a bighorn sheep, a 'teapot', a foot, and a 'shell'. Petroglyph, a bighorn sheep (that we've affectionately named "rocket sheep" because of the trail behind it ;D). Rock shelter. A metate. Inside shelter, ceiling contains pictographs and fire blackening. Pictographs. Petroglyph panel, contains a unknown glyph, a zoomorph, and a 'n'-shape. A Great Basin abstract – middle archaic (5500BP-1500BP). A pestle. Petroglyph panel, a bat and 'L'-shape.
