So, I went and bought some thick merino sheepskin leather tanned in France, it's probably a little too thick but I liked the level of ribby character and gave it to Peter to make me a 'Hero'. Surprisingly whilst feeling pretty thick it turns out to break easily in and feels very soft. Note: This is not 'shrunk', in fact it seems to have been ironed to hide the ribs, when you knead and manipulate the leather the grain pops out and it softens. Peter is on the verge of getting his own leather from his suppliers so get hold of him for the latest on that. He has 2 on the go. A ribby NZ lamb and a tough washed lamb (I don't know what he will call them!). This is the 'Hero' with me giving him my own buckles and pockets sized for me and I asked for the K stitch. Confirm those little details and you are good to go. I'll show some pics of it on when I get a chance to take some, it's raining here today.

WOW! That's an amazing jacket Kt. Peter does a great job on his jackets, and I really like the "K" stitch you had done on the straps - it's a unique piece that just gives it that extra coolness Nice one!

Good thing I got that US Wings or I would be begging you to get me some of that leather.
I have to admit I do like some of the details on yours better than the Wings but nothing I can't live without.
Does that beauty have gussets?
Cheers, John

It does indeed! NICE! That is one thing I would have liked on my [ORIGINAL PATTERN ;D] Wings. That and the strap adjusters like yours has. Once again, Beautiful. Congratulations! Cheers, John

Funny thing is strap adjusters are one of the easiest things, I've found, to change. So I don't usually worry too much about them. It kinda surprises me how some people do. (Not saying that you do!). All you usually need is bolt cutters to take off offending ones and a dremmel to cut the centre bar of a triglide so you can install it. Black triglides are available, though maybe not 'easily' available seeing as how many jacket makers settle for bronze, nickle or gold ones. I found a foundry that were happy to supply black powder coated ones.... they wanted a min order of 12k though!

I ordered some of the G&B type sliders from my usual source for the Wings. Unfortunately they are hardening them too much now. When you try to open them they snap in half. If I can locate some like you found I'll give it a try. You don't happen to have 11,998 more laying around do you. Cheers, John Are yours anything like these? www.strapworks.com/Metal_Slides_p/ms-c.htm

Well, my mom typed in the password for at least the first pic. Looks great! So... Does that mean Wested is actually selling their Hero Raiders now, or is it a prototype? Steven

It seems like Wested is taking orders for this now, but it is not on their site yet. You have to contact Peter by phone.
