Cowboys and Aliens? Western and Sci-Fi? Man, Hollywood's got some very uninspired ideas nowadays, including remakes of classics and really weird mixes. BTTF III is more understandable, as its a time travel movie where the characters go to the wild west. But this?
EDIT: Steven Spielberg never used the word "Alien" in his alien movies before. I just saw Close Encounters (Director's Cut) this morning for the first time, and the word "Alien" was never used. In the case of Cowboys & Aliens, it just sounds like a dumb contemporary film. I can't believe Harrison Ford is doing this movie.

From the trailer and reviews of it so far, it looks pretty good to me.

I don't consider myself a critic, as I like things that critics tend to attack, like the '98 Lost in Space Movie, or KotCS (before the negative reviews showed me how awful it really was), or The Muppet Show (Okay, so they only have two critics, and they're more hecklers). ;D But there have been things I wasn't so open to, like Monsters vs. Aliens, or the Harry Potter movies, or any movie with crude humor in the trailers. The western elements look really good. I like how they don't reveal the aliens in the trailer, which makes you(at least me) curious. There's a horror sense to it. Not to mention Harrison looks good in that hat.

I'd also like to say that some parts of it remind me of The Frisco Kid. The way Harrison is dressed, the Western setting, etc.

Has the movie come out yet? 'Cuz I'm just curious if you've seen the whole movie before.

I think I've figured out what to do with Indy 4. Don't try to make sense of it... It will lead to anger which will lead to hate which will lead to the dark side. Just put it in a little place in the back of your mind and wait anxiously for five hopefully cowboys and aliens will tide us over and they are admitting up front that it's aliens. I wonder what would happen to Indy 4 if they were a little more upfront about the marketing story of the movie and said it was "inter dimension beings" in the trailer. Well never know lol

i think the film will be a fairly decent show. me being a Ford fan, i'm curious to see how he does. looks interesting but like most of you said, it does look a bit corny haha but all in all, the special effects look fantastic as usual and the actors are fantastic (not to mention Olivia Wilde) lol and did you notice Ford was in a dead sprint along side Craig? i was suprised he was keeping up with him.

I wonder if Harrison's character in The Frisco Kid is the same one as it is in Cowboys & Aliens. 'Cuz if so, then that'd be cool. Speaking of which, I ought to see it someday. Steven

Steven No it's not the same character. In The Frisco Kid he is Tommy Lillard and in Cowboys & Aliens he is Colonel Dollarhyde. But they sure look the same. Yeah you should see it. It's a good movie.

Cowboys and Aliens is in fact based on a comic book. While I agree with the fact that most of what Hollywood is turning out is absolute garbage, this may be pretty good. Not only is Harrison in it, always a plus, it has Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, plus it's being directed by Jon Favreau, who I think is a pretty talented actor and director. Most of the television shows and films are merely adaptations of books, short stories or comic books. The concept is pretty interesting, given that no one has ever attempted to take such disparate genres and see what kinds of stories you could create from it. And if anything, you can never say that it's false advertising! haha. It's probably one of the most direct and succinct titles you could ever dream up and nails the idea of the movie perfectly!
