As long as the leather doesn't dry out, it should be fine without Pecards. But it's a good idea to use some once in a while.

I wore my newly distressed jacket to school today. It's a little cold for it, but it managed just fine.

After playing around with the gamma setting on my monitor, I was finally able to see the jacket. The distressing looks great so far! As for the "little too cold," you could always get a cardigan and a scarf and go as a hybrid of Raiders Raven Bar and Mystery of the Blues. That's what I plan to do when the going gets cold. The Cardigan should be Brown and the Scarf should be Camel.
