I ALMOST got the one piece gussets on my Wested but decided against it at the last minute. I think if I could go back and change it I would. I don't have to much of a problem now but I think I would have liked it more of I had them on there.
I think on Todd's jacket they're on there automatically.

I have the one piece gussets and like them... but I don't have a jacket without them so I really have nothing to compare them to. I have about a 40" chest and the jacket is marked 38" and fits me nice and snug. When layed flat and zipped up the jacket measures 21" armpit to armpit. So it's tighter than most people would order, I can still wear a thin fleece and t-shirt under it though.
The armholes are nice and high and I've speculated that this may be a result of putting in the gussets but have no actual proof.

KT's post is what I was talking about. My pic request in this case was to see if a size 40 - 80s fit or not - might not hang on you as well as a 38 might. With as many people here owning varying sizes, seeing your jacket on, may have helped to determine if a 40 just isn't going to cut it for you, that's all. All good advice given on the jackets, so it shouldn't be hard to make a decision. Just that I have an 80s fit and a regular and there isn't that much difference in both to the point where one feels like an entirely different coat. If your 40 feels too roomy, a 38 might be the answer in the long run. Pics of the coat just to admire the coat weren't the reason for the request. I know, I know. The question wasn't for me anyway. Just? Trying? To help?

Hey Tone, I appreciate all the help tremendously, I really wish I wasn't so impatient ..I should of posted pics before ordering.. After reading KT's post about the 38 I'm a little nervous about my order.. I still wanna hear your thoughts on my first wested.. I'm gonna post pics asap..I went ahead and ordered the 40 Reg (TOD), with the eighties fit and the underarm gussets.. I don't know how long it will be before it arrives since I asked for the extra options..My first jacket only took 2 weeks to receive since it was off the rack.. Now to go hunt down my sister and reclaim my camera Sincerely, Prof.Wex

Hey Tone, Heres a pic of my wested, I'm not sure this pic really shows the bagginess of this jacket. I guess its more when I have my arms down. the chest kind of puffs out real bad. Sincerely Prof.Wex

What do you think guys? IMO that looks a good fit. High on the arm holes, snug on the forearms. Zero squirralage. The pockets are a good size and you even got quite scalloped pocket flaps. I suppose you could get it tighter on the chest if you wanted but it looks good to me. It's not meant to be skin tight. You can actually ask for a 39" chest if you really want. (they might put a 38 OR a 40 tag in in it if they do as they don't have "between size" lables). BTW what is your real chest size and what is the "armpit to armpit" measurement on that jacket? Also choosing a TOD for your next one will give a slightly longer jacket.

I agree, KT. Profwex, that jacket doesn't look so bad at all at that size. Nice zero squirrelage on there, too. Another 40 should be just fine. (You might be being too picky.) Looks good. An 80s might be fine.

I agree with the above fellas, and think you will be fine with the size 40/80's cut you just ordered. This one is pretty close already, and I think the 80's cut will get rid of some of excess baggage you don't like in the front. The pockets do look pretty proportional on that one, and the flaps are nice as well (as KT said ). When they are zipped up all the way like that, it really shows off any extra material in the front. I'm not sure how many folks can zip their's up all the way and sit down, without having a poofy leather bird chest effect happening. I think it gets better as the leather softens, and is most likely better with lamb than goat too. Also like KT said, a size 39 with an 80's cut might even be better. But, if your order is already in.... they may have already made the cuts. Your call... but, I think you will be much happier with the new size/cut you have coming. Ken
