Perhaps the US made Legend jackets might be priced as they are because they are intended to compete more directly with the US made Gibson and Barnes Expedition.

Heh... As accurate as these jackets are, I don't think they can compete with a G&B, which actually is what they say it is.
For instance, the zipper on the Legend is on the wrong side, wheras G&B puts it on the Prop-Accurate left side.

That bold part is in significant doubt now. Neil Cooper's name has been removed from all Wings advertising. so 1) Cooper did not hand over a pattern or 2) He was not paid the fee he wanted. It's all very mirky. Take all of that with a very large pinch of salt. I second what KT said and add this... Follow the twisting trail of wild claims regarding the Indy jacket saga, and you will always find someone trying to make a buck by re-writing history to include themselves as key pieces of the operation. You could get really dizzy seeking truth in that whole story and end up broke buying every new jacket that's supposed to be "the one" in the process. I contend that buying a jacket you like best and can easily afford is the right one for you. There is no perfect design that rules them all anyway... because the original screen jackets varied from each other as well. So find one that fits you well, fits your budget well, and has as many of the notable elements as are important to you. Then, ignore all the new re-writes of history. They only line someone else's pockets and pad the egos of people that desperately want attention without merit. That's the only way to find real happiness with your jacket purchase, IMO. Ken THANK YOU.

While the movie jacket did have a left-handed zipper (who knows why?), I've never owned a jacket in my life which did, and the vast majority of people prefer the zipper to be on the right.
The presence of the storm flap on the left makes it more difficult to use the left-handed zipper, although it is obviously something one can "learn" to do.
While the US Wings is not "prop accurate" in the position of the zipper, the right-handed zipper IS functionally better, makes the jacket easier to live with, and probably helps them sell to a wider audience.
There was also some discussion on COW that Legend jackets COULD be ordered with the left-handed zipper, if at least 100 requests were received, a special batch would be made by US Wings.
