I put together my Indy set for the premier of Indy 4 and posted it here. I didn't get a chance to wear it again until this year, and decided to go ahead and distress it a bit, as per the comments on this board when I posted initial pix. I'm glad I did! Before: Me in nice shiny new clothes that look a lot like what Indy wore: After: What Indy wore: It's makes a pretty big impact, in my opinion. Cheers, g-man-71

Looks great! If I may say so. I wish I had the courage to distress my gear to the extent you have gone to. -Josh

Actually, the distressing process was pretty mild. Fine grit sandpaper here and there on the belts and straps, and a soak/sun dry and general pocket knife scraping on the jacket. The biggest distressing boost secret I discovered was this: Throw it all in a hefty bag with a few moderate shakes of fullers earth, then shake it all up. Remove it, shake it out, and voila! Best part is, it cleans up nicely again with very little effort.

Your distressing job looks great. Looks like you've been through some rough stuff. Maybe dragged by a truck?

yeah its fun to mess things up, I also used fine sand paper and rubbing in small circles on all the leather gear ( apart from the whip, as that was more expensive )
I have also done zombie costumes in the past which involves completely destroying clothing, I experimented with taking shirts and trousers and scraping them along the ground ( behind a truck isnt such a bad idea ) as the roughness does have an effect on the surface of the material
I then took it to a new level by scraping the knees and elbows with a wood or metal working file! that actually tears the weave of the fabric and instantly looks older and worn away on lots of adventures, but experiment first!!! dont try it on a brand new shirt and then get it wrong...
see how it works and then show us your experiments on expendable clothes

Yeah, it is! It just goes to show you that Indy Gear will NOT look good without distressing. No use avoiding it. Steven
