Pecards! Search for them around on the web!

Pecards on a lambskin really won't do very much.
You can redye a jacket, but it's a pretty drastic proceedure and takes a lot of work, you may not get an even finish or the smoothness of normal finished leather back because you have to strip the acrylic surface off to allow the dye to take.

Yeah... what KT said. BTW, You don't have to seatch for the link to Pecards, as it's right in the "Where To Buy" thread of this section and the main one of the front page of Indy Lounge. If you follow the advice of some and try to use brown Pecards dressing on lambskin, not only will it stay sticky... but the brown color they use has a red base to it. Any topical application is short lived and must be reapplied, unless you have the surface stripped off and redye the hide itself (as KT said). So, there really is no easy fix for your situation. "If" there was a brown product that would actually soak into lambskin, I would prefer it to have a grey color base instead of red. This keeps the undertones more natural and less brassy in sunlight. Thanx everyone for the info. I guess I'm stuck with brown. I love the jacket just want it darker. I guess I'll have to save up for another jacket maybe another wested this time in dark brown. You live you learn.

Here is a goatskin a friend of mine redyed. The deglazed it, dyed it then washed it in the washing machine. It had a coat of pecards after this pic was taken. The formerly stiff goat is now very soft.

No offense toward your friend's jacket, but I like it much better before the re-dyeing job. The color of brown used to re-dye it also has a red base that just jumps out, especially in the highlights. I think a grey based brown color would have been much better. If he likes it, that's all that matters though. Ken

Yes, the colour he used was 'cordovan' with that reddish undertone. The flash brought it out more. After some pecards and in daylight it doesn't look half as red.
But it is one of the dangers of messing with dyes, you really don't know what you are going to get.

Thanks KT for posting those pix. I'm not quite ambitious enough to try a re- dye right now. I was looking at getting maybe a todds jacket because that is more my price range and keeping the wested for more "dressy' affairs. Anyone know does the Todd's jacket come in a dark brown? I cant tell from the pic on the web site.
cheers

Here is a Todd's that I have. I find the leather much to thin. I have never worn this out of the house!

Is the Todd's lighter than the wested lambskin? The color looks darker than my wested which is what I'm looking for. Does it feel cheap or just too thin for your liking KT? Would it be worth it to get one to distress up or should i save up some more cash to get another wested? The Expos are way more than I can afford to spend.
cheers, John

Yes, it's a lot lighter weight, although this works for some people I don't rate it.
Apart from that take what you can from the photos, I can't comment further as some parties will take my comments as some sort of conspiratorial slam against Todd. It's not, I have a few of his items and like them a lot. But not the jacket.
