Hi guys Just wondered what the best leather dressing is for a jacket. I also wondered if leather dressing would slightly darken my jacket? Thats kind of what I'm lookin for. Thanks Indiana 24

I'd say Pecard's. That would darken the jacket.

To darken a jacket, I use my own concoction -- it's a mix of Pecard's brown tint and black tint. It's roughly a 50/50 blend, but it depends how dark you want to go -- for a lighter color, just use more brown than black...

I have one question...Should I apply Pecards on my jacket before soaking it in the tub? Or is the jacket okay to put in the tub without it? Thanks!

Moulding/wearing it as it dries. Then pecards to replace the oils lost in the soaking, if it looks like it needs it. What leather are you wanting to do this to?

Thanks for your fast response I have a U.S. Wings Lambskin that I have had since Jan. I love it to death, but it is a little big. Last night I used some sandpaper and made it look weathered, but I was looking at a few forums and noticed that you can shrink your coat in warm water. So you are saying that I should soak it in the tub...how long should I do this for? And should I use warm or hot water? You also suggest that I wear it after it's in the tube right? Thanks again!! -IndyFan P.S. I'll post some pics. after the process!

I've no experience of G&B's I'm afraid.
I once washed a Wested lamb in the washing machine on hot in an attempt to shrink it. Didn't work didn't seem to shrink at all. It did however help it look all wrinkly and rippled and a lot more SA.
You can often just soak the outside of leather in the shower then wear to get wrinkles in the sleeves to set. I wrapped some towels around some shipping tubes, threaded them into the sleeves then hung the jacket up by the tubes balanced on a couple of chair backs with the sleeves pushed up. Ended up with nicely wrinkled sleeves.
