Question for Ken...

Hi ken,

long before I joined the Indy Lounge I did a lot of research into who currently made the best Indy style fedora.
Personally I think its Steve Delk at Adventurebilt.

Anyway, at one point I went to your site 'Raging Blues'.

Its really a very cool site, and very infomative!

There are these two pictures there of you with a tie, wearing an Indy jacket and green shirt (One pic you have your hands in your pockets)

Just wondering what style and type of leather that jacket is, it looks GREAT!
Is it a Wested?
I like the color and texture and everything. How the leather folds up on your arm looks just the same as on Harrison Ford in Raiders.

Is it a Lambskin Raiders? Because it looks a LOT like the screen jacket to me, only newer.
And if so which Lambskin? Authentic Brown or Dark Brown?

Thanks and welcome! The jacket you're referring to is a Wested goatskin, which I just sold. They all bunch up when you have your hands in the pockets, though the screen used jackets for the first three movies were lambskin. The pics on that webpage are all pretty dated, as I never got around to taking gear photos with many of my newer purchases.

As to who makes the best Raiders fedora, it depends on your opinion and shape of your head. Nobody in the world makes a more high quality Indy fedora than Marc of Adventurebilt Deluxe. His materials are far superior to those used by his partner Steve. They use different blockshapes as well, which comes to the shape of you head being a factor.

Unless you have a long oval shaped head, Steve's block is too narrow and will look tapered almost immediately on your head (especially after the hat settles in with some wear). Marc's block is more of a regular oval and fits better on everyone without a narrow head/face. It also settles into a more balanced fit with a little wear, given the initial extra block width. So the shape of your head plays into the purchase decision as well, especially when you consider the price of these hats.
