Same here. I've been a big Jason Statham fan ever since seeing him in "SNATCH"....[Get your mind out of the gutter, that was the Pit Bull's name ;D]. This one should be great. Cheers, John

I think/hope it will be good as well. How can you go wrong with the cast he chose and a covert military operation in the jungles of South America? If it's as gritty as his most recent Rambo film, this is sure to be a really cool adventure, IMO. Ken

I don't think this will be the next "Rambo." I haven't heard anything like this floating around the studio message boards. However, I can say that Mr. Stallone submitted this script under a fictitious name just to see how well it would go through the "reader's." Honestly, it didn't do well until it was resubmitted with Stallone's name attached as writer/director. Then suddenly it was top of the list and green-lit.
While the plot sounds "different" it also sounds like a modern version of "Ingloriuous Basterds," meaning that it doesn't involve Nazis and is not set in WWII.
I'll let you know if I hear anything else. But for now, rest assured that another Rambo is in the works and that it should be better than the last.
Also, F.Y.I. the current title is "Rambo: New Blood" Not sure what that means yet, but I doubt it's about a child.

This isnot a franchise that needs to passa torch to Rambo Junior or whatever. I look forward to the next one though.

You don't have to worry about torch-passing. It seems that "New Blood" will give Rambo another reason to be Rambo. I was just joking about the kid.

I agree that at this point, it's definitely not the next Rambo film. When this story first broke, that was a real possibility though. I plan to them both, no matter what. Ken

I liked the trailer. It looks to have a very 1980's style to it which isn't a bad thing for an action movie. I'll take old school action over CGI enhanced cartoony action any day. It's really nice to see a multi-generational mix of action stars together.
