Hello, So has anyone else noticed that Todd Costume is going to be selling Indy boots? My question is has anyone heard how soon will they be available? I know that he is busy with Halloween getting close and I don’t want to bug him with my question. Thanks. Indyzane

He said the boots will be $50-100 in sizes 9-12, no half sizes. He said they'll be here when they get here, this was 10 days ago,
"They are still sitting in a warehouse at LAX waiting for an "Interim Footwear Invoice" document from the manufacturer before the customs clearance process can begin. Meanwhile, my warehouse storage fee accrues on a daily basis. "
He also said this about the boots, hope this helps:
"Yes, the width is medium. Yes, the are "real" boots, made by a "real" boot manufacturer using "real" leather and "real" soles. The company making these manufactures shoes for major brands all over the world. "

Good News, I just ordered my boots from Todd’s! I can’t wait for them to come! The website will not let you order them right now, so you need to call Todd's and Julie will take care of you. Enjoy. Indyzane

Todd's has really become a 'One Stop Shop' for Indygear. I think I bought almost my entire costume from him. All he needs to do now is carry pants.

I wonder how many people will still order the limited run Alden's now that these came out. I'm still shocked at how cheap they are. They only look slightly different than my Alden's. I actually like that the welt runs around the entire shoe. It seems more sturdy that way. Todd did an excellent job from what I can tell. I can't wait to hear reviews.

No since then all of his products would have that. Was fixed a little while ago. Got mine ordered and should get them next Thursday

So the full amount of ordering from Todd’s is $86.00. Not to bad for a comparable. No I am wondering if I should have spent the money on a pair of Alden’s instead. If you evaluate the Alden’s to Todd’s it is hard to tell the dissimilarity I think. The one good thing with Todd’s even if you’re not happy you can return your purchase for a refund. If anyone reading this has a pair of Alden’s how are they? When you put them on is it cloud nine or just satisfactory? Thanks for your help.

To me the Aldens are expensive, they are very nicely made and are very much an 'old school' construction, something you won't get from day to day, mass produced boots.
Indy boots are hard to get right, almost all of the close enoughs have too thick soles or you have to compromise on some aspect.
The Todds look good, people will need to start wearing them to see how they hold up, but then again that price you can get 3 pairs to every pair of Aldens. Sizing will also be an issue for some. I am outside the sizes he has chosen to order.
Aldens are an itch you may have to scratch, or at least see a pair yourself. I was lucky and found a pair second hand for not much more than the Todds.

They are comfortable, but I have boots that are more comfortable. My biggest issue with Alden's is how heavy they are. It's like walking with cement blocks on your feet. If Todd's shoes are lighter and not as what appears to be oversized as Alden's, then I think he might have a great boot. Though not SA, I think the welt on this shoe will allow it to hold up better than an Alden. I can see how eventually my Alden will start to break away from the sole. Alden's to me are overpriced for thier design. Alden's seem more for fashion rather than a working man's boot. Alden's seem like they would need to be replaced quite often with rough daily use. I don't know how HF used these when he was a carpenter. Post pics when you get your Todd's.

I have to agree with Damned Dan on this issue. I like my Aldens and they are not uncomfortable, but they are not the most fabulously comfortable shoes i've ever worn either. They are a fine shoe to wear though. I don't know how mine will hold up over time, but we'll see. On the flip side of that reasoning, I bought Alden 405's because that is the boot that Ford wore in life and as Indiana Jones. I don't care for "knock-offs" and would prefer to pay more for a few nice pieces of authentic gear than to purchase a closet full of "close-enough" stuff. Aaaandd...on the flip side of that reasoning: the only people that will know that your not wearing the real deal will be yourself and Alden purists. $85 is a decent deal for Indy boots though and i'd be interested to see how durable they are too.

I'm curious about these boots as well. Although I'm not exactly flush with cash to be throwing at new gear items, so I think I'll wait a bit before I order them, especially since they've got no reviews / feedback as of yet (since they're obviously too new). I've always dreamed of owning a real pair of Aldens but the high price-tag has kept me away. If these "outdoorsmans" can handle real world wear then I'll definitely grab a pair at that price. The durability is really the prime factor for me, though, since NO OTHER gear item sees more wear and than a pair of boots. To all those who jumped on these early, keep the rest of us posted!

I took this as a sign to hold off and hear reviews first. I already have Alden's, but I like the color of these. I hope they are less heavy as well.

I'm most likely going to Todds on Tue. (I need to get a whip holder) I'll check out the boots, and if they fit well, I'll grab them and give a full field review.

Yes he is. It's not a costume shop in the traditional sense...Its a workshop that he has where he makes most of his gear. Started out doing Xena stuff, and expanded from there.

What exactly does the D on the end of the size mean I've never seen it before I'm an 11US what would I be in the measurement that todd has

I hear people are needing a size larger so go with the 12's.
D is a "normal" width.

Yeah my 11 was too small so I had to sell it. Hopefully the 12 will work. Here is what Todd had to say on another Indy site:
Okay, I finally got a morning when I could attend to this.
The sizing is WAY off - I'm not real pleased and am very eager to find out why. The stated sizes don't correspond to any other shoe sizing system there is. After careful measuring of the insoles and comparing with several sizing charts (not all manufacturers stick to the charts, BTW) the actual sizes are off by 2 sizes. My 8 is a 6, my 12 is a 10, etc. I have changed the size listings on the website, so hopefully people will get the right size from now on.
I don't understand how this could happen. They made standard sizes to the right dimensions - just the wrong sizes.
Good news is - if you wanted a smaller size - I got 'em!
After I get this straightened out with the mfg, I will place an order for the larger sizes up to 13. I have a EEEE foot, and I could wear the 12's okay, so I think they are a little wide for a D. I'll have them look at that, too.
Sorry for the trouble, everyone. I think I've found a work-around for now.
