Now I know this is an usual question to ask on an Indy forum. Let me explain where I'm coming from. I have a couple rough use, anything goes jackets that I love. They really show their wear which is great but not for all occassions. What I need (want) now is a nicer jacket to use for more dressy occassions to be worn instead of a sport coat. I'm looking for an Indy type jacket that will keep looking good for years to come with proper care of course. I know lamb isn't the answer because it seems to wear the fastest. I'd like to get horse but I know from experience with Aero jackets that horse tends to develop really pronounced grain over time. Am I looking for goat? What Indy jackets have you owned that have shown little or no wear over time?

I've only ever owned lamb, but if I were in your shoes, based on past reviews from others, I think I'd go for the goat as well.

I've owned two HH jackets, an Avirex and Aero. The Aero rapidly developed very significant graining (meaning the permanent creases and wrinkles that appear with wear) but the Avirex which was much thinner never developed any noticable graining even after 4 years. Can anyone with direct experience with Wested HH jackets comment on the graining effect over time?

I know that Wested's horsehide is thinner than the full quarter horse (I think that's what it's called) by Aero so I don't think the Wested would develop very significant graining. I think graining does appear after a while but I doubt it's serious enough to be detrimental to dress use.

Thanks for the reply. I ultimately went with a HH from Wested and have been very pleased with it. I have not doubt that it will keep looking great and suitable for dressier use for years to come.

I have a wested goat that still looks new after 6 months, goat is tuff and very durable and looks new the longest, in my experience.

Goat is easier to distress it seems, as far as Wested jackets go.
