True guys, it's all just opinion... and of course we tend to base our opinion on what we perceive if we haven't actually handled one. Based on all the pictures I've seen of them I've just never thought the collar looked right on the expo and still don't think it matches the film used ones to me it's obviously (to me) short and with bulky looking piping. With that said, I still may end up with one, one day.. BTW, why the lack of a box attachment for the straps on the back panel, and a seam on the underside of the collar at the back? Doug C The G&B's "piped" collar seams look just like this jacket...  Even if the collar width doesn't match this particular one. Ken |

Here's my G&B Goat collar for what it's worth-  And yes, the Expo Goat is much thicker than whatever lamb they used on the original so of course it's going to be thicker at the seams. |

That's why I showed examples of 2 types of cowhide along with a lamb. To show that is not the case, leather thickness has a slight impact but not to that degree.

And I showed examples of how the G&B collar and top of the pocket seam mirror that of one of the Raiders jackets. So, regardless of which version you prefer, the thicker is not less accurate. The movie jackets varied in detail, so it only stands to reason that even a fine reproduction of one (G&B Expedition), will vary from others on screen as well. Ken |

Seriously, you don't think the Expo collar and the US Wings collar are very similar with regards to the outside sewn edge? To me they look like they're done very similarly. The pocket flaps I'll give you, G&B is better around the edge but still thick at the top part like the Wings.
BTW, that pic you posted of Indy is not convencing me. I see the stitching is set back from the edge a bit like the G&B but I can't perceive from it the thick bulkyness of the expo's edge, same with the Terry Leonard pic I posted.

I have to agree with Ken on this one. I have no stock in Gibson & Barnes and really don't care if they ever sell another jacket.
No one jacket is going to have all the exact details of the 15 that were made for Raiders.
I just post pictures and let everyone decide for themselves. Some people think WOW that looks great, I think I'll buy one or UGH that looks like crap I will never buy one of those.
Either way, it's no skin off my ass.
Hell, it took 25 years and a direct quote from Spielberg to make people finally believe that the Tavel Hat hat WAS GRAY.

PS: Doug C, If you have issues with the piping on the G&B why bother TRYING to like it.

Sorry that my comment sounded snide (didn't mean it to), but I only said it because you posted that same picture twice. I am curious though what your opinion is to the US Wings collar and how you think it differs from the expo, if you don't mind continueing this "debate".
Really guys I do like debating the various aspects of Indy jackets in general and certainly mean no ill will in it. I just consider it friendly banter. Like I said I know the jackets that we are discussing are usually fabulously made and I love the look of most the leathers G&B offers. Plus I've owned multiple jackets from three of the other jacket makers and as it's my hobby I figure that eventually I'd get an expo just to know first hand what they are like...until then though, I'll keep prodding the finer points. Also, look at it this way - this conversation has already changed my mind about the pocket flaps quite a bit, so that's a big help not only to me but to anyone else who reads this and may have had the same impression.
