In distressing a fedora? i have some around the house and i was wondering if simple cat litter might do the trick. or does it have to be a particular brand or whatnot?
by the way, I'm new, and i think this is a really cool forum so i'm probably gonna stick around.

Yah probably want to stick with the non-clumping kind (heh), but looking at the other thread it seemed to work. Sadly with my experience in buying the stuff (for my two critters) I'd probably get a whiff of one of their hats or jackets and I'd be able to tell what brand it is, sort of like cologne or perfume recognition. *rolls eyes at myself*

If you only have the clumping kind of litter, just get yourself one of these: It's also useful for grinding up Gandma's pills or people's bones to dust. You decide. Welcome to Indy Lounge! Ken

The cat litter my Chihuahua uses (yes, that's right) is made of gray clay with no additives. It's just a cheapo brand from Wal-Mart. It does create a very fine light gray dust that I think would be excellent for distressing.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah the kind we have around for some reason isn't too choppy, I'll be interested to see how it works.

If you use kitty litter on your hat and have cats in the house, and you set your hat down on it's crown and walk away... Be sure to look inside before you put the hat back on.

No I don't have cats. I'm allergic so I have really no idea why we have it around.

RF, is that at joke or is there some warning out there somewhere? The thing is, cat litter IS fullers earth, it's just not ground down as fine as the stuff sold as costume fullers. Of course there are other types of cat litter, some wood based some silica gel. But the basic non clumping clay like stuff is fullers. Some of the packets even say "fullers earth" on them.
