I'd say Harry is the least likely person in this forum's list of characters to be noted as an adventurer, though he has had his share of journeys. He's more of a PI and happens to be a wizard; the only one listed in the yellow pages for Chicago. If he does happen to be on a search for antiquities, they usually have some sort of mystical, supernatural KaBOOM quality to them.
I saw the show back in 07 (on dvd now), and that prompted me to start reading the series of books by Jim Butcher. Got my father into both as well, and I think we're about neck and neck on the written stories. Both the onscreen and book versions of Harry are great, as are the adjoining characters (Bob, Lt Murphy, etc). I especially enjoy some of the old school sayings Harry has when he's surprised or just plain miffed. Makes me feel like he's in a 1940's crime drama. (Hells bells!)
Anyone else catch the show or read some of the series? It really is worth a look.

I've been able to watch only few episodes of the tv show (it hasn't aired yet on Italian TV), and I think it was great, really funny, with some interesting, and well-developed characters, I hope I could see it on TV sooner or later, or I will have to download it...

I didn't manage to catch it on Sci-Fi when it aired, but I caught a snippet on youtube and it looked decent. Actually I really want to watch it now because I just finished season 3 of 24 and the guy who played the lead Terrorist, Paul..something or other...is Harry Dresden. I know that there are a bunch of books also, but haven't gotten to them yet. I'm only just recently getting into wizards and stuff like that, as I predominantly watched vampire stuff like Forever Knight and Kindred: The Embraced. But yeah, I'm definitely gonna check out some Dresden Files soon. Anybody else catch it on TV?
