Hello, First I just wanted to say I'm glad I found this site! I feel at home with all of you and glad to know that I'm not the only one. Okay so Here is my first question, I just ordered a Wested distressed cow hide (LC) and I'm wondering should I have ordered underarm gussets? I'm 6'3 and 200lbs. Does anyone have them on their Jacket? I noticed Todd's Costume Indy jacket has them and now I'm worried that I might need them? If anyone does could you post me a pick so I can see? I would really appreciate your help regarding my silly issue. Again glad to find you guys! Zane

I have underarm gussets on my jacket, and can show you a quick picture, but I'm afraid I can't really help you on advice too much. My jacket was an ex-custom that didn't fit whoever it was intended to that I was shown when I visited Wested. It fitted me perfectly, and so became the jacket I bought. It's a Raiders jacket, and I think I remember reading the gussets were accurate to some scenes in Raiders and not others, but I'm not sure. And I have no idea if they were on the Crusade jacket. I really don't know much about accuracy in that regards, or what gussets are 'supposed' to do, to tell you whehter you should want them or not. But here's the best picture of the under arm as I could take on my own. I hope it helps. Sorry if I've misunderstood, and that's not what you're talking about.

Vivli,
Hello, Thank you for your speedy reply. Nice jacket! Well your photo does helps me out allot. Thanks for your input on my question. Question to anyone else, does anyone have them (gussets) on a LC jacket from Wested? If so does it help you when you rise your arms up in the air? My thinking on this gusset issue is that the jacket will not rise up from your waist when your arms are raised in the air. Thanks all sorry to bug with a crazy question guess I'm trying to get the best style of jacket.
Cheers, Zane

indyzane, Welcome to the Lounge. I don't have an LC Wested but the G&B comes standard with gussets. They do help but the cut and placement of the sleeves where they meet the jacket make a big difference on how much the jacket rides up when you raise your arms. Cheers, John

With my jacket, the jacket still rises up if I raise my arms, despite the gussets. I kinda think it's cool though, part of the Indy jacket vibe.
Means if you ever throw a punch, you get your jacket nicely swooshing behind you, just like a good film jacket should!

I think the gussets do help with movement a little, though not nearly enough for you to worry about now. If you already have an order in the works, this is a very minor detail that shouldn't be worth changing things over. Welcome to Indy Lounge! Ken

::)My TODD std indy jacket $149.00 come standard with gussets. They are not noticeable but help keeps the jacket from riding up. You can custom order a Wested jacket with gussets but they do not come in standard off the rack jackets. I hope that answers your questions about gussets.
