So today I found myself at a meeting in London a couple of streets away from the London Belstaff store. SO I thought I'd go along and have a look.
There's one jacket in the window. It's a caramel coloured predistressed leather, a little dry looking. The details on the jacket are correct, it looks like the Indy 4 jacket and it it not overly slimmed down like the photo we've seen had suggested. The jacket has a Belstaff logo patch on the left arm and inside the jacket on the zipper facing on the right it has a metal plate with a serial number and what looks like a Lucas legal line embossed on it.
The jacket is not especially well put together. All of our vendors jackets are better.
The jacket is displayed with a bizzare little camera bag and a Dorfman. There is a little display board in front of it.
I go in to get some more information. The shop is empty. I ask about the jacket, no stock yet "End of NEXT month" (June). And the price.... hold on to your AB.....
£988 that's $1,923.50 at today's exchange rate.

WTF?! And Belstaff actually thinks people will buy this because...? You could get the complete gear setup for that price and have money left over to see Indy 4 in theaters 5 or 6 times with popcorn and a large drink! ;D ;D ;D How exactly did this licensing agreement ever get done? It doesn't make sense to me that LF would give the license to a company like Belstaff to make "official" Indy 4 jackets, while Dorfman Pacific is still making cheap wool-felt "official" hats for $40-$50 bucks. (No offense meant to Dorfman owners, but $40-$50 bucks IS cheap when you compare it to this obnoxiously overpriced jacket! )

I'd like to see what a $1,923.50 indy jacket looks like. For that much money that jacket had better do you some sort of sexual favor. I love my G&B's but not that much...

I think it comes with a little note pad in the pocket.
What you do is write down your idea for Indy 5; and at night, while you are sleeping, Geroge Lucas sends the ghost of his artistic talent to steal it.

Ha ha...Hanover street, nice eye on that one, KT! Well, the jacket looks like an Indy jacket, but certainly NOT a $1,900 dollar Indy jacket. What a joke... The color looks strange as well (it could be the lighting, I suppose) it looks much too light, far lighter than the jacket looks in the new film.

I've never been to Hanover St. I've been down Hangover Ave. before though.
