I've read the different descriptions, but I am wanting to know the difference between the Fed and Fed Deluxe from people that BOUGHT them, as opposed to people that SELL them.

The Fed regular is made from their "Imperial Quality" rabbit felt. The Fed Deluxe uses their "Heritage Grade" felt, which has a nicer, softer finish. That also applies to the Fed IV and Fed IV Deluxe.
I only own a Federation Regular, but GCR can tell you about the Fed Deluxe. And I don't know whether anyone here owns a Fed IV Deluxe.

In the old days, it used to be that the Fed Deluxe had a slightly nicer felt and also came in a better color. But with the newer generations of FED's, I think the difference is solely in the felt, and both hats come in the same shade of "dark brown".
As nice as the better felt quality sounds, back when I bought my Akubra, I mainly went for the Deluxe over the Regular FED because of the color. Considering they are the same color these days, I'd probably be inclined to just go for the regular FED IV, rather than the deluxe.

Not that I think the FEDs are a bad color, as I do believe the current color is better than older "Mid Brown" that had been used on previous regular FEDs (all due respect to regular FED owners out there). I am somewhat curious to see what "Heritage Fawn" looks like in person, though. -GCR

I love my Federation regular, but the color is disappointing. I look forward to receiving my Adventurer. -Josh

Don't beat me up too bad, I know nothing about these hats! Actually, I know little of the Akubra Adventurer. I have seen it before, but I don't know the specs. I was actually referring to the Christy's Adventurer from Hornets Hats in London. I'm sorry for bringing it up in this thread. I see where I might have confused you, as there is an Akubra Adventurer, here: www.davidmorgan.com/product_info.php?products_id=1128. I would have done the same thing. -Josh

I'm pretty settled between: 1. Camptown 1957 2. Fed IV deluxe 3. AB Deluxe probably gonna order an AB Deluxe, but get one of the other 2 to tide me over while its being built. I leave for AZ in 4 weeks time and need to get a job and start earning before I drop cash on a hat though. No point (as well as foolish) in having a bitchin Hat if there is no stew on the stove (i.e no food)...know what I'm saying?
