After placing an order in December, enduring credit card problems, and receiving a jacket that wasn't up to par with my expectations, 4 months later Peter and Gemma have truly graced me with a beautiful replacement jacket. Made from PLATON's TOD specs and cut from Novapelle (thanks for the recommendation KT), the jacket seems just a touch big on me but I am otherwise entirely satisfied with all other aspects. For my first and hopefully last Indy jacket, I couldn't be happier - save for the fit, which will probably shrink after some exposure to harsh rain, etc. The only question I have now is do y'all think it needs a coat of Peccards or should I just ride it out and let some natural distressing occur?

I think the fit looks great as it is, though I'm sure it probably feels a hair bigger than it appears in the pics. I also don't think you should put anything on that jacket right away, though KT knows much more about Novapelle than I do (which is nothing ). I say just enjoy it and let things wear naturally. It's weird looking at a Wested with those small pockets, especially since the flaps seem regular size. However, I much prefer them to the unusually tall pockets alsmot everyone winds up with from Wested. They seem more balanced to the jacket at this size anyway. Congrats on finally getting a jacket you are very happy with! Ken

Mal, Great f-in jacket ! Personally, I actually like the taller pockets. But hey man, if you like it, that's what matters. I gotta say, i kinda wish I had gotten Novapelle. Lambskin is great, but man that looks amazing!

Very nice jacket you have there, Mal! I have to say, it's an interesting combination of the Novapelle leather with the TOD specs, but I thinks it definitely works. I'm with Ken on the pockets...I'm so used to seeing the larger pockets that the pockets on this TOD spec just jump right out at me. Still, they work perfect for TOD and don't seem to upset the balance of the jacket at all. I really like the look of that Novapelle hide, I'm definitely getting a Wested made from Novapelle someday. I am curious as to what one would do to that sort of hide to help snug it up...would the water trick work, or would that not be advisable for that sort of leather? (KT, you out there man? ;D ) Anyways, awesome jacket, Mal! Congrats! -GCR

Thanks everyone. I am glad that after 4 months of waiting, Peter came through. I suppose I've got many adventures to look forward to in this little beauty

That's a great looking jacket, Mal. Congrats on finally getting a jacket your satisfied with. This is the second Wested, the other being Pagey's , that I really really like. That Novapelle hide is really starting to grow on me. I like the already "broken in" look. Oh, lord......now I'm starting to want another Wested. ;D

Hey Mal,
Jacket looks great. I wouldn't mind that you have a little room to breathe, you may find it comes in useful over the years!
Pockets are a bit different I must admit, but I could get uset to them!
As for pecard, I've done it to mine... initially it will go quite dark but will lighten up as time goes by. It does add more depth to the colour and seals the surface somewhat so it is less likely to let water darken it. I like the effect. But it does kinda remove much of the silky "nap" that the leather has. What it does do is allow some of the brown undertone to show through.

Thanks Kt, Thanks Harry!
I'll probably let it weather on its own a bit before I hit up the pecards.

That's what I mean when I saw "weather on it's own". Rainstorms are natural, as opposed to taking some sandpaper, alcohol, etc. to it. Doesn't matter now. I'm pretty pissed that everyone on COW has commented about how small the pockets are and the fact that the damn thing feels to big on me. I'm waiting on PLATON to tell me what the correct measurements are for the pockets, then I'm sending it back to Wested and probably asking him to take the jacket down a size.

Ok all, Thanks entirely to PLATON'S efforts, I was able to ship it back to Wested and get the pockets re-sized accordingly. They look great now, if you ask me. It took enough comments from everyone for me to see that they were "too small" before, but it seems that the problem has been corrected. Once again, thank you PLATON. Here is the finished product:
