Hey guys, first off, I'm new to the site and this my first post. Pretty cool thing you guys have goin on here  My dilemma is that I can't decide if I want the LC jacket or Raiders. The last crusade jacket almost seems sleeker. Am I seeing things? What are the differences and more importantly, what do you guys think  Lastly, are there any tricks to ordering a screen accurate Raiders from wested. I understand theres some humbug about the collar not being pointy. Any help would be great, thanks guys! -Shawn |

Hi there,
Both jackets are great and it's really a matter of personal preference. My first Wested was LC, but I had to return it as it was a little too small. I then opted for the Raiders model. Even though Wested is the original jacket maker for the 1st three movies, it's not that easy to get a SA jacket from them. If you want one, you have to supply Wested with all the specs of the screen accurate jacket (pocket size, cut, type of zipper, and many other details) and only then you might get what you are looking for. I heard from other members of this forum that Gibson & Barnes/Flightsuits makes a SA Raiders jacket, so you may want to contact someone (many members of the forum have both jackets (Wested and Flightsuits) who actually has one.
As to the SA jacket, I have put all the specs together (this forum has been my source of getting the specs I needed) and will gladly send them to you if you like. Cheers, Dunross

First off, welcome to the lounge!  Now, about those jackets: Dunross is right, a lot of it is personal preference when it comes to stuff like this. My preference has always been for Raiders style gear, whether it's hats or jackets or belts or guns. However, I'm still a huge fan of the LC look and now that I've got most of the Raiders look squared away, I'm starting to look into collecting some of the LC specific stuff (jacket included). I think the LC jacket design offers a bit more in the way of functionality, with the snaps on the storm-flaps (the one thing I hate about the Raiders jacket is the lack of those snaps!  ) and a roomier cut for better comfort. But I think the Raiders style "looks" better, as far as the overall design, color and most of all the distressing. If you want an LC style jacket, I would recommend Wested as they made the original and seem to be putting a good LC pattern out right now. That's not to say they can't give you a good Raiders jacket, but as Dunross points out, it requires a lengthy list of specs to get it "just right". My own Wested, which is a lambskin Raiders version from 2003, has the general Indy look and has held up very well and also distressed quite nicely, but it's missing some of the key details that make a true Raiders (yoke seam placement, pocket size, etc.). If you want a Raiders jacket, I'd suggest either the G&B Expedition, which I also have and highly recommend, or one of Todd's jackets (the "standard" which is a great bargain for a very SA jacket, or the "custom" which is more expensive but is, obviously, custom made for you). To my knowledge, none of the other major jacket makers (G&B, Todd, U.S. Wings) even offer an LC pattern as an option. Of course, you might want to look into a Magnoli jacket, as well, since his jackets are also customizable. I would imagine he'd be able to deliver a decent LC design, though I've never dealt with Magnoli myself. Other folks swear by him, though, (Tiberius Jones for one ) and he seems like a reliable vendor with good service. Still, if it were me, I'd lean towards the Wested simply because I've dealt with them before, they seem to have the LC design nailed and they were the original maker. But that's just me. yes, GCR is 100% correct. My first Wested jacket was the LC and it was perfect in every detail. Unfortunately, I had to send it back as it was a little too small and then I altered my order to the Raiders style jacket. I would defenitely be getting another Wested in the LC style though.
