Great Movie. Could have had a little better ending, but I truly liked it.

I saw it last Friday and I thought it was ok. I think Will Smith did a good job in it. I just wasn't that impressed with the story and I was hoping for more action. Basically the film is like a cross between Castaway and Resident Evil. Of course this is the second movie I've seen in a row that was more or less depressing. The first was The Mist. Now that films ending made the ending to this film seem upbeat. I don't feel there was anything in the film that would warrant having to see it on the big screen. I would say it would make a great rental. By the way did you know they shut down 1 mile of Manhattan for 2 hours in order to film some of those scenes?

This Movie has been made twice before. In 1964 with Vincent Price "The Last Man on Earth" and in the 1971 with Charlton Heston "The Omega Man" Oh, and on the Simpsons "The Homega Man" ;D Cheers, G-MANN

I'm looking forward to seeing it as well, though it will wind up being on DVD due to our current budget (or lack of one). I really like Will Smith as an actor and the concept of the movie looks really cool.
I haven't seen either of the previous versions John, so do you recommend one of them over the other? I would wait until I had seen "I Am Legend" first, of course.

I would suggest watching "I am Legend" first. It's been a while since I have seen either of the others but from what I can remember they were both OK.
I would not be surprised if they start showing both of the other versions on Cable TV soon with the release of the new version being at theaters now.
Cheers, John

Great... but if TNT or TBS start running them, the movies will look like chopped up trailers of the full versions! That would be a good way to see whether or not I wanted to rent one or not though. I would definitely want to see "I Am Legend" first, as I don't want anything spoiled regarding the storyline. Thanks, Ken

I love Chuck Heston, but the Omega Man Sucks!!! And only because of the 1971 Cheese! I just watched it last night.

I knew about the Charlton Heston version but I didn't know about the Vincent Price one. I saw parts of the Omega Man and from what I can remember the "bad guys" in that could think and acted like humans only they were more like vampires. In the new film they act more like hyper zombies....... I don't expect this to stay at the top of the box office for long. With National Treasure 2 and that new comedy "Walk Hard".....I'm guessing the films going to drop like a rock. It's just very.....anticlimatic.

movie was good, i agree though ending was a bit unresolved for me, not neccessarily in the plot to the movie and the point of will smiths character, but the end fight just didnt seem to give it to me like i wanted. Seeing batman trailer made it worth it though.

Yeah, that's the thing......I saw a bunch of cool trailers before the film and then the film starts and afterward I was thinking the trailers were kinda better than the film....

Guys, you're probably all going to hate me for this but I went to see this last night and was so bored that me and my friend ended up leaving halfway through the movie. I can honestly say that was the first ever time I've walked out of a movie in the cinema.

I thought Will Smith was great, but the film was not.
There is only so far an actor can carry something without a character arc or any true plot to speak of.
No offense, COWBOY, but I Am Legend left something to be desired in the way of memorability for me.
There was so much CGI involved, I failed to find anything terrifying about the situation.
Everything leading up to it was scary; the isolation, the evacuation, everything you didn't see, essentially.
Even the part with "Hank" was disturbing.
But once you see how fake the antagonists are, the movie fell flat from there...for me, anyway.

The dog's name was Samantha. He called her Sam throughout the movie. The thing that really makes me remember this is that my dog's name is Sam (Samson).

That's it! I knew it was a female dog and it was a short name. I think "Hank" was one of the dummies he "chatted" with in the film NOT one of the vampires....or whatever he called them...

Wasn't it "Hank" that made his way out into the middle of the street? And he shouted at him, "Hank, if you're real you'd better tell me right now!" ;D

What can I say? I liked it Mikey! I agree with you Cowboy, the ending could have been better but I too liked it. Somebody at work gave me screening DVD so it did not cost me a dime to watch "Fricken Sweet" I don't think it will be a classic but it was good.

i thought it was mediocre.
It seemed like resident evil with a big movie star.
Will Smith was really good as an actor, the NY setting was really cool and his lonelyness was depicted in a realistic manner.
But all the zombie stuff was not my thing and looked too computer generated.

I purchased the 2-disc version on Friday ( I hardly ever buy movies BTW) And the alternate original movie was good and better than the theatrical release. That said, it could have still been done better. Another 20-40 mins would not have hurt either.

Out of curiosity what's different about the "alternate version" not shown in theaters? Is it more than just a few deleted scenes added in or are there major differences....including a different ending?
