Well, I just saw this and thought I'd paste the link here. There are two videos. One at normal speed and one in slow motion. You can't really make out anything in the normal speed one because it happens so fast. I don't know what it is but it doesn't look like a moth or flying insect of any kind. In some ways it kind of reminds me of the "angels" at the end of Raiders with the way it moves around in the slow motion shot. Read about it here and take a look for yourself. www.coasttocoastam.com/gen/page1898.html

While I have no real comment on the possible authenticity of this video, seeing things like this always makes me wonder...why was this person videotaping a doorway in their bedroom? Was the purpose of this video specifically to capture a ghostly image? (Boy, did they get lucky if it was...) Or was there some other reason for videotaping a random part of their house and this was meant to be a mere coincidence?
Still, regardless, it was interesting to watch. Thanks for the link, Harry!

I pulled this from part of the letter that goes along with the video on the web page. I'm assuming this was sent in from someone who investigates these sort of things. So that explains "why" they were there. Shot this video back in August of 2002. We were investigating a home that had some pretty strange things going on.

It looks like a moth or something.
In this day and age, anything can be faked on film - even by novice filmakers using lousy equipment. I am a huge skeptic. Most things are difficult to believe unless they are seen personally.
My wife and I have actually gone on the ghost hunts a couple of times. A few interesting moments, but nothing conclusive.

Hey, leave me alone! ;D
This video is interesting but there's a missing "sentience" to the thing that swoops in. I don't even think it's a moth, because it is completely inanimate other than it's path of movement. The other interesting piece is the ring of reflective light you see on the wall just before the bigger ghost makes it swoop. (The "flying rig" catching unwanted light for a moment? I don't know.)
Whatever it was streaking in front of that camera seems to have been done while in the room at the same time. The biggest things about this video that make me tend to sway against thinking it is a ghost of any kind are: the quick reflection of light on the wall before the streaker; the inanimate nature of the thing being called a ghost (even a moth in light would have some flutter); the thing is "highlighted" when in front of the camera light; that would be a physical substance there in the room as it moves in and out of the light. (This is only my speculation that spirits, beings, and auras are often perecieved to generate their own glow regardless of secondary light sources.) So why is this highlited when it comes into camera range and then fades when it goes out? (If anything, it would be less visible to see when in the camera light.)
Pure speculation, and for all I know it could be a ghost. But that's how I break this one down.
Thanks for posting it, PH! These are still fun!

I thought at first it was a moth or a big inscect of some kind until I watched the slo-mo version. I've paused it at three or four different points and it doesn't really have any form. It looks like it has wings of some kind but they aren't solid. They actually kind of trail off like mist.
I'm not sure if this is faked or not. I personally don't believe it's an insect though. I've been out at night and had moths and stuff fly in front of my porch lights and I've never seen any that looked like that.

To be honest, I think it was a moth. Due to the nature of the film, I don't think the camera's frame rate was fast enough to capture the flutter of the wings. My first impression, upon looking at the full-speed version, was that it was one of these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actias_lunaGiven the slower movement of camera focus in low-light situations, it looks to me like the moth/bug/Gremlin-belch-particle fluttered in to be close to the camera's spotlight, but moved to fast to be registered as anything other than an overexposed wad. Had it stayed in one place, the camera would have focused on it and we would have seen the details. I'm not entirely dismissive of ghosts, I've heard plenty of stories, from credible people, but we have to be discretionary in what to take seriously. In taking a photo of my mom and her friends the other day, a dozen halos of light showed up on the image. Now, either that house is filled with spooks, or they just need a hepa filter. My opinions lean toward the latter.

In taking a photo of my mom and her friends the other day, a dozen halos of light showed up on the image. Now, either that house is filled with spooks, or they just need a hepa filter. My opinions lean toward the former. The former? I have a picture that I took myself at the Orlando Ghost Tour we took a few years ago. They were very excited about this picture: We are led to believe that is a ghost - or more specifically, an orb. During my career, I have helped close down some old mills and make sure they are environmentally compliant. I took a random picture of one of the subcellars and came up with this... I wish it was a clearer picture, but it is just dust. I kicked it around myself. The flash reflects off the dust. No big mystery. I am astounded at anyone who gets an orb and cannot realize this. They cannot seem to tie the fact that most 'haunted' places are dusty and dark. I will be surprised if you DON'T get 'orbs' really. Me, I will keep looking for something more concrete. The orb followers can name each one and talk to dust if they want. You want more credibility? Get an orb on film with no flash. There is more to this at my forum here. If posting a link to another forum is not allowed, please feel free to delete the reference. I am going to re-read the rules to make sure...

Rick, You can post links, Ebay auctions, whatever you like around here. As long as it's not illegal, we are all game . Our unofficial rule was, as little rules as possible. Thankfully, this place has had great people with alot of varying interests to share. So not having a bunch of strict rules has worked out for us so far. Post away and feel free to swerve waaayyy off topic anytime you like. Ken

I said this a while back in CJ's ghost thread. As far as ghost photos go I'm very skeptical of them. I'm more interested in actual live video.
Steve, I've never seen a moth like that and I'm kind of glad. Man, is that thing ugly. ;D
My only problem with the "moth" or "bug" theory is that something of that size would have still been flying around that room. In the video it hardly takes the camera guy a second to spin around and try to follow the path of that "thing" and it disappears into thin air. A bug that size would have still been visible flying around an enclosed space like that. Even IF it eluded the camera he still would have seen it bouncing of the walls or ceiling with his own eyes. And if it was to dark to see it then he would have heard it's wings. At night when I sit on my porch in the summer I can't see these bugs but I can hear them bouncing up against the side of my house.
I don't know what that is in this video and I think the word "ghost" is misused a lot.
I know if I die I certainly don't want to be hanging around Earth looking like that thing or an orb. ;D
Rick, I think your right about the dust particles.

Thanks! I have covered some similar topics on my forum and would be happy to share info back and forth. I don't want you to think that I am here to plug my place - I am here from an invite by Mr. IndyBlues. I am glad to be anyplace that you can speak your mind and not get deleted. I have the same style forum so I am looking forward to being here. Now, about those ghosts....
