Alright, what the heck do I know about "Spacer" trousers? Nothing. This is mainly to get past the current number of topics count. I have OSD when it comes to things like that.
But, since we're on the subject, I decided to pick up a pair of black, flat front "Dickies" brand work pants to not necessarily make Han Solo pants out of them, but to use in some semblance of a Sci-Fi char. Looking at them, and if I were inclined or had the skill to make Han Solo pants, these do look like they work very well. These have already been recommended as Han Solo pants elsewhere so I'm not coming up with any unique discovery here. Just agreeing that they do look like they'd work very well. They fit a bit more snug than a normal pair of pants and that's always good if they're being tucked into below the knee type boots.
I have another character in mind. Captain Generic! Or something of the sorts.

So while we're at it.......Does anyone have the specs for the Han Solo pants? Might as well have the legit info for building those too. I'll try to find the link. I know it's Corellian Something or other.com.... Corellian Exports. AHA, here's another link for anyone who might want to make a pair on their own. (Disappointingly so, I can pull off the Indy look well enough but make a lousy Han Solo. Where was this kind of info when I was a kid?) www.jedi-academy.com/solo_tips.html

Cool beans! I was thinking of two black vests I have in a storage trunk, for use in an "other guy" costume. I was wondering if I could pull off a close-enough Han Solo outfit with what I have already, as a matter of fact. I still have the HS pistol as well. Sadly, I look no more like him than Indy.. funny isn't it? Yeah, I would have killed to have this sort of gear info as a kid. Unfortunately, I would have made an even worse cool character like Han Solo, as a kid! Still, pretty much anything can be found, and already has a community of interest n existence online these days. Now all I need is unlimited income and the free time to spend it! Thanks for the info, Ken

Thanks, Conceited Ape! Here they are. Corellian ExportsThat "Aye" sounds like a guy who might have a Han costume or two up their sleeves. Yes? RB, yeah, that's why I'm starting with this one pair of Dickies. It's a 'concept' spacer. Which I guess if I'm blatantly honest with myself, means I'm too short and too unlike Han Solo to pull off the real deal. LOL! But... Ouch.

So do we file this one under Topics that went over like a turd in a punchbowl?

I made some Solo pants out of Dickies. They came out well. Just sew the pockets and add some blood stripes.

Very cool, Gonesolo! I'm trying to figure out the path of least resistance with adding those blood stripes.

Hmm...I found some ribbon at Wally Mart that was about 3/4 inch wide and I cut little strips about an inch and a half long. I would take it to a seamstress though. She might be able to recommend something else to make them with. Plus, she knows what she's doing so she might sew them for you. Of course, you could get on everyone's favorite auction site and look for "iron-on bloodstripes." I say that in all seriousness.

Heh. See how conditioned we are not to be able to say Ebay? Wow, you weren't kidding!? Someone actually sells bloodstripes specifically for Han Solo pants! That a detail like that is available to buy amazes me. Here's where I get wishy-washy. I might just want to keep them black for the other costume. Then again, it's not like the Dickies are expensive though. $17.00 at Walmart.

Yes sir its something alright. Just replace the word "it" with anything, and you can find what you're looking for.
BTW, if you do end up making a Solo costume: 1. The holster is probably the hardest thing to find at a decent price. There is a guy online who makes 'em at about $300 a pop.
2. If you use the Dickies pants for the costume, make sure to sew some type of elastic on the bottom of the pant cuff so that you can pull it under your foot. If not, the pants will bunch up.

I'm at work and I can't log on to ebay. Is this from a seller overseas? Somewhere in Asia?

Yes, that' Sam Poon, he makes reasonable stuff, not too expensive and you can bargain him down a bit. BUT don't get any of his "Indy" stuff, It's not up to our standards. That Solo belt may do in a pinch but note it's only pleather. You could use it as a template to make your own out of real leather if the hardware is up to it. You might find it interesting that Peter made some of the original SW trilogy belts and has had the posibility of doing these on the back burner for years, just never got round to it. Last time I was there he showed me some left over Pirates of the Carribean buckles, of course they just looked like buckles to me .

Blues,
We don't have the ebay rule here so it's fine to post anything you see there.

I saw this thread a while ago but I just never got around to posting in it yet.
I'd love to put together a Han Solo outfit and this isn't the first time I've read that the Dickies work pants would be good way to go. It's the boots, blaster, vest and gun belt that I would have trouble finding. Although, I still have my original Han Solo toy blaster from when I was a kid. It's all black too. The only thing I'd have to do is add some silver to it.
It looks like the boots and gun belt would be the most expensive.
The vest and shirt I have no idea how to make or where to get "close-enough" versions. The blood stripes I would need help with also.
I think I could pull it off if I tried but I'm so wrapped up with Indy gear and trying to figure out what to do about X-Mas right now that this would have to be something done down the road.

That would make a nice "Other Guy" gun and it fits with the time period. I wonder how hard a plastic airsoft gun like that would be to convert to Han's blaster? Any Star Wars fans out there know how to do this? Cool find, RB.

The best place for blaster conversion parts is www.blast-tech.comI've made many a purchase from there and they are great parts, shipped quickly, at a reasonable price. Here's my old Solo "Hoth" blaster, made from a Denix Mauser replica and Blast-Tech parts: Converting a Mauser to a Solo blaster is pretty much just slapping the parts onto the gun. The catch is you'll pay five times the cost of the airsoft for the other parts to convert. I've seen several people use hardware store parts to come up with some nice custom "Solo-style" blasters but I can't find any of the old websites right now. Also, if you're nitpicky that airsoft isn't the same model of Mauser used for the Solo blasters, but for $6...

That's a beautiful HS gun! Thanks for the scoop on where to find the extra parts and stuff. I wasn't sure about the complete accuracy of the airsoft gun in conversion, since I ran across it by accident. I just took the listing as being true, and have never researched any of it. It's nice to know there are some great options out there, even if somebody takes the cheaper/close-enough route. Thanks, Ken

Bumping this just because.... That is a nice gun, Winstonwolf and that airsoft really isn't a bad deal for $6.00 either, RB. I just don't know what I'd do with one once I got it. LOL! I suppose I could rig a holster and wear it while playing Wii or something. There are some good deals on that stuff for sure. Like I said.......phantom BUMP. No need to keep posting on this one.
