That's a sweet drum set, John! I was never really musically inclined myself, but I did play drums (sort-of) for a short while when I was younger. Glad to see you're getting back into it yourself.

Very nice kit John! Ironically my band is looking for a drummer. Looking to start gigging again?

Very cool drumset, good to hear music has got your attention again. OK I finally pulled the trigger on a guitar: I bought a Ibanez GRG 170 DX in *jewel blue* and a line6 spider II amplifier which has four styles: clean, crunch metal and insane. And it has preset styles: Purple Haze, Back in black, smells like teen spirit, master of puppets etc. And started lessons.

Never knew you played drums John - that was my first instrument! I wasn't particularly good though.
I'll try and get round to taking some pics of my guitars- in particular my Les Paul (which is where most of my Indy gear went!)

Nick, I had been about almost 20 years since I have played until I picked up this set. It is fun getting back into playing though. Cheers, John

That's a lovely looking kit. Actually, drums was my first instrument - but I was never much good. I just wanted to thrash about like Keith Moon Anyway, here at last are my guitars (the electrics at least).

I just thought I would give this thread an update. I sold the first drum set and upgraded to a used set of DW's. Much better sound. I also incorporated a Rack system. Here is the new set. Cheers, John PS: Something I read today involving drumming techniques. In "The MOELLER BOOK..The Art of Snare Drumming," Moeller describes a down stroke with the right stick as being similar to gripping the handle of a whip and making a downward, snapping movement.

That's a heck of a nice kit you got there John. I have just one question though, How do you reach that heavy bag? It seems kind of far from your throne.

Woah!!!! Veeeerrrryyyyy nice indeed!!!! I'm very envious, Mike - that's a beauty!! Funnily enough I've been thinking of doing a relic job on my old Squire Strat, just as a summer project. I have an old Fender maple neck from a guitar I smashed 15 years ago, which I thought I would use with the rest of the Squire. haven't quite committed to he idea yet though. In the meantime, I did give the strat a facelift with some acrylic paint - as a kind of homage to Jimi. Here's a couple of pics - along with some pics of my band's debut performance a couple of weeks ago. My three guitars: Custom truss cover On stage:

Thanks for the kind words, Pagey! Man, I never get sick of seeing that honey burst LP. My all time favorite Les Paul color. Beautiful! The strat and SG are sharp as well. I'm digging those custom paint jobs. I've been seriously debating over giving my blue strat the "Rocky Raccoon" treatment. It's got the right base color. Oh yeah, and I am definitley going to build an SRV stratocaster one of these days. I figure if I mess up and go overboard with the distressing, it can be a Rory Gallagher, instead lol. Cool pics of the band as well. Rock on, brother! Mike

Thanks. I'm very happy with my LP - especially afer flipping the magnet in the neck pickup to get those Peter Green out of phase tones! But, now Mike has put a bee in my bonnet about getting another Strat!!!! Agghhhh, I've been looking at them anyway, and now his new addition has really tipped the scales!!
