John, that's the best looking G&B i've seen. Too many are over pampered and look like a 'posh' version of an Indy Jacket... Sort of like president Bush wearing a brand new very expensive A2. That looks like a proper Indy Jacket. I agree KT and think they all look much better with some wear on them. I've seen some great looking older Westeds as well, that really show how nice the leather looks with age. Ken

Ken, in your avatar, which jacket are you wearing in all those pictures? I really like the way it looks.

Thanks very much Sean! I'm wearing my dark brown, distressed Wested lambskin jacket in all those shots. Not only because I didn't have the G&B when all those pictures were made, but it's the only one of my three jackets that been distressed to look more of the part. I plan to let the G&B and my goatskin Wested age naturally.

Guys, your jackets look great! Seanph, you are in for a treat, G&B or Wested, you really can't go wrong. But it does look like G&B is the better choice. -Josh im very surprised the gb is waaay the fav over the wested, the gb to me looks WAaaay too dark(maybe its the pics ive seen?)

Guys, your jackets look great! Seanph, you are in for a treat, G&B or Wested, you really can't go wrong. But it does look like G&B is the better choice. -Josh im very surprised the gb is waaay the fav over the wested, the gb to me looks WAaaay too dark(maybe its the pics ive seen?) The G&B Dark Brown is pretty dark, but it's not much different than the Wested Dark Brown. Either version of Dark Brown is noticably darker than the Authentic brown that Wested offers. Despite the "Authentic Brown" being closer to the true color of the original Raiders jacket, some folks (myself included) prefer the dark brown instead of the authentic, because the Raiders jacket looks darker than it really was in many scenes. Plus you have to factor in whatever methods of distressing and artificial aging the costumers employed in making the jacket look more beat-up, which supposedly included using something (mink oil has been rumored, as well as shoe-polish) to darken it up. So anyways, color wise, the "Authentic brown" might be closest to the actual color of the original Raiders jacket, but the dark brown seems to be a better match for the color the jacket appears to be for much of the film...at least to my eye. Also, a lot of the recommendations for the G&B consider that it is, in stock form, more accurate to the original Raiders pattern than the standard Wested. This is not to say that you can't get a dead-on screen-accurate jacket from Wested, it's just that doing so typically requires providing a lengthy list of specs that are outside the standard Wested pattern. The G&B has *most* of these specs (like the stormflap and collar meeting point; the pocket size, shape, position and scallop of the flap; no leather facings for a more accurate drape; correct yoke seam & sleeve seam placements; underarm gussets; higher cut armholes for better movement and fit; correct back action pleat depth; correct strap hardware) built into the design as standard features. Add to that the G&B lifelong guarantee for the stitching and zipper, and it's easy to see why many people like it. I personally own both a G&B and a Wested, and I love them both, so I'm not trying to push any agenda. I would highly recommend either jacket. -GCR
