I am looking to get a jacket and was wondering which jacket was the better quality. I only want one. Since i will be spending between $300-500, I want the best for my buck. Thanks for the help and this awesome site!

Given your budget and criteria...my vote would be for the G&B.

seanph. First off Welcome to the Lounge I have moved this thread into the jacket section and deleted the duplicate. I have both types of jackets and although Wested makes a fine jacket I still prefer my G&B Expedition. There are a lot of great jackets posted here with plenty of pics from both companies. One thing in favor of the G&B is the craftsmanship is guaranteed for life. It is also very screen accurate without needing any modifications. However the new Wested Raiders jackets are looking very nice too. I'm sure quite a few more people will chime in with thier opinions too. Cheers, G-MANN

Greetings ~ and (to echo) G-MANN ~ Welcome I (personally) have a Wested Pre-Distressed Cowhide... ~ LC version. Issues ~Firstly, allow me to get past the issues that some have with the Wested ~ I will state this.. They are (apparent) issues with the jackets sewing... which are posted on another thread, and I will not rehash what has already been stated. But for me, I had no problems, and I should (also) point out that I only have a Wested, and no other manufacturer's jacket. So, I can not give a honest opinion about the G&B, for I have no experience NOR (even) seen one. However, in defense to the Wested, it has held up nicely for me without any issues, and I DID abuse the jacket. The leather continues to be soft and supple, still retains that leather worn smell, and fits nicely. Piccies ~I have some piccies placed, in the "Exhibits" and "Distressing" threads, if you wish to take a look. Personal choice ~It seems that (further) R&D is the lead to follow on this one. ~ for it all comes down to personal choice Good luck and whatever you decide, may you be happy with your find/purchase ~ Respects! I have two Westeds and a G&B Expedition, so I will offer my 2 cents as well. I like my Wested jackets. I love my G&B. If that doesn't sum it up, here are a few subtle differences that mean alot when spending this kind of money. 1. The G&B pattern is far more screen accurate. Higher back yoke seam placement, correct collar stand shape and collar size, underarm gussets, black sliders, front pocket size/shape, and higher bottom sleeve socket placement (for much better movement) are all standard. 2. The build quality is superb and comes with a lifetime zipper and construction warranty. 3. Ordering is a breeze. Choose your size based on the detailed chart, pick your leather, and relax. If it doesn't fit, you can simply return it for another size. No worrying over screen accurate details, quality control, or communication issues. They will even call you after it arrives, to make sure everything is satisfactory. I enjoy wearing my Wested jackets, but if I had to do it all over again from scratch... I would have purchased a G&B Expedition and called it a day. indylounge.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=jacket&action=display&thread=1186009939Ken

As Ken, GCR and Cowboy already pointed out, G&B all the way. I've owned mine for about a year and love it. They are very well made jackets.

Hey Ken & Cowboy! Your G&B's look GREAT!!! I wear a 40R, normally. Should I stick with this size? Do you have a gut? If so, go up a size or if you are a skinny whipper-snapper like some guys here, go with the 40 R. Now all that said, you should go and get your chest measured just in case Fellas, pipe up and tell him if I steered him wrong. PS....where did you see my G&B? I can't remember posting it yet!

Thanks very much SeanPH! I need to post some updated pics of how it looks now after some regular wear. I agree with Cowboy about the sizing question. Ken

These are old pics from a different thread but the jacket is about a year old in them. The jacket is nicely broken in but not distressed. Cheers, G-MANN

Guys, your jackets look great! Seanph, you are in for a treat, G&B or Wested, you really can't go wrong. But it does look like G&B is the better choice.

Great looking jacket G-MANN!! Well I dont have much of a gut, but I do have one last question... Lamb or Goat? With my gyro sandwich, I go lamb. With my jacket , I am not so sure. I would love some input. (I will check other posts to see if it is talked about) Man, I love this site!

John, that's the best looking G&B i've seen.
Too many are over pampered and look like a 'posh' version of an Indy Jacket... Sort of like president Bush wearing a brand new very expensive A2.
That looks like a proper Indy Jacket.
