that's a HK USP compact in .45 auto Nice. I'd take the HK over the Nowak jacket myself...but that's just me. And while I certainly don't doubt the quality and craftsmanship of Nowak's work, I just can't justify spending that much dough on a jacket...I mean, at least the gun could save your life. -GCR

I mean, at least the gun could save your life. -GCR Now that gave me a thought. Wasn't there a gearhead once that had an Indy jacket with Kevlar in it? I could see that being worth $800...but I still wouldn't need it. I rarely get shot at since I moved from St. Louis. ;D

from what i've heard its not 800, its more than that!! Yeah, the original amount I heard was $1,200, but I was using the example given in this thread for my comparison. Both are outrageous for a leather jacket, IMO. Ken

from what i've heard its not 800, its more than that!! What?! Oh man...is the profit margin not great enough as it is? Is he making these jackets using leather from endangered cows or something? I just don't get it... -GCR

$1,200??? Wow....Tony must feel he has too much money or something. Maybe doesn't want to make many of these jackets. I just can't imagine better reasons for the price being that high.
I paid $1,200 for an old Toyota van one time. Maybe this jacket has cruise control.

Yeah, an Indy jacket that could stop a bullet might be worth $800-$1200, but I'm betting it wouldn't have screen accurate drape. Ken

You know the kind that is given beer and massaged with sake whilst having soothing music played to them... it's the only way to get that 'special' leather. (Says Kt spreading wild and totally baseless rumours.)

God if it's more than 800 then I guess I will buy me a Armalite AR-50 50 cal. I could pick up a used one under or around 2000 with a life time warranty. The pic kind of sucks but that is Jesse James from West Coast Choppers with one, that beats any jacket any price any day. MODEL: AR - 50 CALIBER: .50BMG RECEIVER FORM: MODIFIED OCTAGONAL FORM, DRILLED AND SLOTTED FOR SCOPE RAIL BOLT: TRIPLE FRONT LOCKING LUG EXTRACTOR: SAKO TYPE EJECTOR: SPRING LOADED PLUNGER, AUTOMATIC EJECTION TRIGGER: SINGLE STAGE BARREL: 31" TAPERED, 8 GROOVE RH 1:15 INCH TWIST MUZZLE DEVICE: CYLINDRICAL MULTIFLUTE RECOIL CHECK STOCK: 3 SECTION: EXTRUDED FOREND, MACHINED GRIP, HARRIS BIPOD, OPTIONAL FRAME WITH M16 TYPE GRIP AND MACHINED REMOVABLE BUTTSTOCK BUTTPLATE: PACHMAYR FINISH: MAGNESIUM PHOSPHATED STEEL, HARD ANODIZED ALUMINUM OVERALL LENGTH: 59 INCHES WEIGHT: 41 POUNDS COMPLETE WITH: OWNERS MANUAL LIFETIME WARRANTY

Outside of the Indygear world. Most high quality leather jackets are around $800.00. I don't know why everyone is so shocked. I guess we should be thankfull for Wested, todd's an the other Indy jacket maker's.

Outside of Indygear world pure beaver (even SEMI handmade) hats are around or above 800 bucks as well... Different worlds, different profit margins. In western hats, where a handmade pure beaver is rarely under a grand, there's actually money to be made yet. I think many people don't even know how affordable it actually is to be a gearhead Regards, Marc

Many leather jackets considered to be high end are actually severely overpriced. The material costs what it costs, the construction is what it is. There is no magic involved or ultra special leather that makes a jacket worth that much money in regards to materials or construction.
If anyone chooses to pay that kind of money for a jacket, they are doing so for the brand name, a certain design that nobody else makes, or simply because they have too much extra money and not enough common sense.
I'm not shocked by the high prices people charge for certain items like the new Indy 4 jacket. I just think it's absurd for people to spend that kind of money when they are not getting more for it. Shame on anyone for spending $800-$1200 on a jacket of any kind, but especially when they can already get one of the highest quality for a third that price. I think there are much better uses for that much money.

Raised beaver won't gain the same results regarding the fur density, as those living in the wild. Besides I think the world has become pervert enough with having everything in cages (animals, in-door rainforrests, Big Brother). I'm not a tree hugger by any means, but when I saw a guy on TV the other day, having bees on the roof of his flat in New York (where the air is nice and clean ) and even selling "roof honey", it made me plain sick. Once people can't get any hats made from wild (or for the matter of fact ANY) beaver any longer, 800 bucks for a hat will only be mentioned together with the sentence "back in the days". Ok, off my soapbox. Regards, Marc

Well I guess with my new sniper rifle I could go on a wild beaver hunt ;D ;D ;D Yeah, and Kap can back you up with his new USP, just in case the beavers try and make a move while you're reloading. So...anybody out there actually thinking about picking up an Indy 4 style jacket from Nowak? Or perhaps a replica from another jacket maker? Does anyone even like the new Indy 4 design? I can say I wouldn't mind adding an Indy 4 style jacket to my collection someday, but I'm in no hurry, especially at those prices! I think it's safe to say that when the time comes, I'll be going for a more reasonably priced replica. Still, there are a few other Indy jackets I'd like to get my hands on first... -GCR

I personally don't want to "jump the gun" and try to buy any Indy 4 gear until I actually see what the entire outfit looks like onscreen. About the only thing so far I'm 100% sure on is the hat......The only shot of the jacket I've seen so far was the one RB pieced together from that video clip. I have a feeling no matter what the "new" outfit looks like I'm going to end up sticking with the "Raiders style" with all of my gear....including the jacket.

I would like to pick up the Wested denim jacket for the spring. I need jacket that is rugged that I can use on fishing trips but will still be nice to wear, when I go out to drink at the strip joints

Maybe something more water repellant than denim would be better for the strip joints. How about a nice Indy style rain poncho/tarp with arm holes in it? Ken

HK makes a fine .45 auto. I have the full size USP Tactical, with the threaded muzzle and night sights. Its basically a Mark 23 SOCOM gun without the slide lock and is considerably smaller. A very nice weapon, and very accurate.
I carry a Glock 21C on duty. Not my first choice for carry, but that's not up to me.
