The reason he went with the standard is because he didn't want to spend a lot of cash. Todd's costume jacket runs about the price of a Flightsuit Indy jacket, doesn't it? I think Todd should consider making the standard available in XXL. I kinda figured he went with the standard jacket to save money, after all, the standard is one of the biggest deals around. I just figured if the fit of the standard wasn't satisfactory, or if there was anything about the sizing he didn't like, he might have more luck with a custom, that's all. I did NOT realize the custom jacket was now priced up around 5 bills, though. I was still thinking it was priced in the $375 range (or however much it was when it first came out), which is only a little more than double the standard jacket price. I do have to agree that it wouldn't hurt to have Todd offer the standard in an XXL. The biggest thing that is keeping me from springing for one of these (aside from the lack of cash and desire for more hats ;D ) is the uncertainty of how it would end up fitting me. -GCR

It's definitely an "80's cut" with the standard, that's for sure. Because any other XL Leather jackets I own are a lot looser and the sleeves are a tad bit longer. So that's where I see people like myself, Indakin and possibly you needing an XXL in order to have a little bit more comfortable of a fit. I think I'm like right on the borderline when it comes to the jacket. This size JUST fits me but I could have ordered an XXL ( if it was available) and that would have looked ok on me as well.... According to his site the custom jacket is $499. I also just noticed he's going to start selling an Indy whip for $200.

I know that Todd has stated the term "80's cut" applies on to Wested. However, what it means really applies here as well. To my understanding, he created the patterns for this line of jackets to fit like the movie jacket does not like traditional sizes with extra room for sweaters, etc.. With Wested, you order the normal size if you want a more normal fit, and the "80's cut" if you want it more snug and higher yoke seam. The answer may be the same at this point, which is... just ordering the next size up, if Todd actually offered an XXL in this case. I know this offers nothing constructive to the current owners, but may help explain things for future buyers of the this particular jacket. I understand that he does offer a complete size chart, which should eliminate the guessing game as to what you'll be getting. If I have taken the wrong boat with this info, maybe Todd will set me back on course. (see, I didn't mix metaphors ) Ken

I can't help but look at the pics and think "Hey, that's "Smallville Clark" wearing an Indy jacket!" ;D Your's fits you almost identical to the way mine fits me. Although I think I might have a tiny bit more room at the end of the sleeve than you do with yours. Honestly, I think the jacket looks fine on you. Like you said it could use a little bit extra room at the bottom of the sleeves but that's it. I think once you wear it around some more it should start to loosen up a bit and maybe the sleeves will stretch some. When I wear mine every so often I tug down on them and kind hold them for a few seconds to stretch them a bit. I don't know it that helps or not......it makes me *think* I'm doing something. ;D As far as the look goes I still think this jacket just nails it right out of the box.

lol man looking at those pics of me is so bad. Im not going to forget to shave anymore, unless ill be indy at a con.
Yea your right though Pitfall, the jacket will stretch and fit me better with time. I stood infront of the mirror tonight and switched between the 2 jackets and i realized my goat might be even a bit big on me. I did tell peter i lifted and i think he made my arms a bit wider too. I love that goat and i can deal with the scallops on it now, i can actually stretch the leather out some. Its got some nice distressing on it too. But wearing the Todd is so much more indy feeling. Something i keep forgetting to mention is how i love the nickle zipper was even used. He really added alot of details to make this jacket very authentic for a great price. Really is like night and day with the weight too. The shoulder width being tighter is nice too because its more my shoulder width. My goat is wider there and longer sleeves, maybe too long somewhat. All around this Todd just Fits me more. But for a all weather use jacket ill definitely still wear the goat its so strong. Well im going to distress the jacket tomorrow night hopefully. I want to have it pretty rugged when i go see National Treasure 2.

Don't worry about the sleeve. the jacket looks fantastic. also, remember that the jacket is meant to be used and abused, so why even worry about the sleeve length? anyway, it looks like an awesome Indy jacket!

Bryan,
I really think that jacket is about a size too small for you. That price is hard to pass up.
It's interesting to note how many goatskin jacket owners liking the lambskin. The goat has always been the one chosen "for toughness" and lamb for drape. I agree with you, in comparison the goat has always felt like plate armour to me.
I wouldn't rule out the £125 Rolta Wested, it's made of slightly thinner lambskin than the customs, is cut slightly longer in the body and arms and has the silver zipper it even has smaller pockets.

The only added issue is that leather jacket sleeves usually shrink up with age and use, not stretch out.

yea i know that about the sleeves ken. Thanks for the info KT, i didnt notice that wested had the cheaper jackets too until later. Ill see how the todds turns out with distressing tonight. Ill keep it for now, might look into the Wested, but even for 125 pounds its going to be a bit for import tax too which jacks the price up even more. I still think i can deal with teh jacket for now.. ... we will see, when are any of us EVER satisfied 100% lol

I was saving up my money to buy one of these jackets and I knew that with the money from Christmas that I would have enough, but I thought i'd better wait till Christmas to see if I would possibly get one(because I have been telling my parents about it for a while ever since I read this thread) and to my suprise I opened my last present and in the box was the standard Indy jacket from Todds. It is a fine jacket and I have to agree with Harry it fits like a glove but for my first Indy jacket, it's great. My parents also found an original MKVII bag too so altogether I had a pretty good Christmas.

man i just saw last night that todd has the XXL size now. I really wish that was out beforehand. Im seriously considering selling this one, and getting that size when it comes out, along with his deluxe whip possibley. The XL fits but its the sleeve length, it doesnt bother me that much, but it can annoy me sometimes. The XXL is an inch bigger which is just what i need. Plus to really get that weathered worn raiders jacket look, ruffing up the hide with water and some dryer time is the best way to work it in, and im afriad to do anything more like that with the XL i have. Well if anyone is interested in an XL thats already a bit worn in let me know. Ive distressed it some already, and it was starting to look great.

Awww, crap! Thanks for letting us all know Indakin. I to would probably be better off with an XXL myself....due to the sleeve length. I plan on ordering a Flightsuits jacket but I still want to keep the standard jacket as well.....for summer. I've hardly worn mine. The only thing I've done is add some Fuller's Earth to it. I wonder if I can exchange it and get the bigger size?? If not then I think I'm going to have to sell mine and order the XXL.......
