I thought I would throw all the info about this production into once thread from now on. Here's some news involving the mean greenie.... William Hurt has been cast as General Ross (played by Sam Elliot in the non inspiring 2003 version by Ang Lee). Liv Tyler will be playing Betty Ross, and of course... Edward Norton will be filling the ever expanding shoes of Bruce Banner. www.cinematical.com/2007/06/13/william-hurt-joins-the-incredible-hulk/The cast for next summer's Incredible Hulk re-imagined sequel thing is getting stronger and stronger by the day. The Hollywood Reporter tells us that William Hurt has now signed up to chase down the green dude; he'll be playing Gen. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the man who makes it his life's mission to track down and capture the Hulk. Ross (who was played by Sam Elliott in Ang Lee's 2003 version) is also the father of Bruce Banner's main squeeze Betty Ross, with Liv Tyler taking over for Jennifer Connelly in the role. This marks yet another comic adaptation for Hurt, who also starred in David Cronenberg's very awesome The History of Violence back in 2005.
With the exception of Liv Tyler (who just doesn't do it for me), the cast is certainly one of the most intriguing for a comic book adaptation that I've ever seen (with Iron Man right alongside them). Apart from Tyler and Hurt, the extremely versatile Edward Norton has come onboard to play Bruce Banner/Hulk while Tim Roth will take on the role of Emil Blonsky/the Abomination. X-Men 3: The Last Stand scribe Zak Penn wrote the script, and when I sat down with him this past May, he seemed totally jazzed about the project. A die hard Hulk fan himself, Penn knows what was wrong with the first film and assured me they were going in an entirely new direction. Instead of the whole lab aspect, this time we'll be following Banner on the run, as he does what he can to blend into a world that doesn't understand who or what he is, while trying to steer clear of anyone who might "make him angry." Louis Leterrier will direct and the flick is set to hit theaters on June 13, 2008 during a summer already packed with big films like The Dark Knight, Iron Man and Indiana Jones 4. Ken

Director Louis Leterrier Talks Hulk www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=39719Wizard Magazine has published a new interview with The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier in which he talks about the villains in the film. Here's a clip:
"Obviously, General Ross is the villain, so he had to be in it," added Leterrier. "But the Abomination, Emil Blonsky, was who Marvel wanted to put in this chapter—the first chapter of our new saga—because he's the most famous. He's an enemy that can actually threaten the Hulk. It's very important for me that there is a danger. When Bruce Banner is Hulk, I didn’t feel in Ang Lee's 'Hulk' that there was any threat. He was invincible. So with Abomination there's actually a monster that can, you know, kill him when he's in the Hulk form."------------------------------------------------- The full interview can be found at: www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/006462271.cfmKen

Hopefully they make it better than the last one. That one sucked except for Jennifer Connely.

I didn't think the first film was bad it just made the Hulk's origin more complicated then it had to be. In the books it was just the gamma bomb going off that made him the Hulk. In the series he exposed himself to the radiation on purpose. In the film his dad experimented on himself and then passed some of his mutant genes onto Bruce, then there were was the nano tech that he and Betty were working on and THEN there was the gamma radiation....... I hope this film is a reboot of sorts. I hope they don't even try to repeat any of that. The Hulk has always been a cross between Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Fugitive and that's what this new film should be like..... I don't need 2 hours of "My daddy didn't love me"......and a few mutant poodles!

yea the dady love wasnt the best, but i agree Pitfall, i actually enjoyed the hulk alot. I dont knwo the backstory as much as superman but i like the film. Great effects, and i liked the comic book cut scene looks. I didnt find anything exciting about the ending sequence though.
Cool picture though, very comic book looking.

Edward Norton on The Incredible Hulk www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=41160Edward Norton talked to Total Film magazine (via The Sun) and said there is no connection between upcoming The Incredible Hulk and 2003's Hulk.
"First off it's utterly unrelated to that film," he told the magazine. "This is in no way a response to it or picking up from it. I think like Chris Nolan and those guys did with Batman, we just said: 'We're going to start completely with our own version of this myth or saga.'"
While he said "no" to the role a couple of times until he was able to rewrite the screenplay, Norton now says the story will likely span more than one film.
"To me the whole thing was to envision it in multiple parts," he said. "We left a lot out on purpose. It's definitely intended as chapter one."Ken

I think the movie looks pretty good. It seems to be more like the TV show then the last one...... Although, that shot of Banner being dropped out of the helicopter to trigger a "Hulk Out" is straight from The Ultimates comic.... Looks like it's going to be one heck of a summer.

The first hulk was pure crap, so it's quite obvious that we can't trust another one, but I'm sure this one will be an Ok movie... Probably die-hard fans will not like the abomination, but trust me when I say that you'll like this movie And the poster was "officially" taken from that Spiderman cover (and a buch of other iconic covers) on purpose... Marvel and the guys of the movie tried to "tie" this movie with Marvel comics in many ways, and that is just one of them... You'll see a LOT more references to classic comic moments in the movie...

Edward Norton is one of the writers and key people behind this movie, so if you don't like it... you can't give him as pass. Ken

From what I've seen and read it looks to me like this is what the first film should have been.... In fact it looks like it's a total reboot and his origin is closer to the TV series. Which I'm all for. I'm not even going to get into the poster / comic book comparisons because I've seen old issues of the Hulk with covers similar to the poster. In fact I don't think you can find a comic book out there that hasn't used that type of a shot before. I doubt even that issue of Spidey there is the first time that type of "pose" was used. I'm very optimistic about this film and there's even a Tony Stark cameo which means for the first friggin time in Marvel movie history were going to see a crossover like in the books and that opens up the possibility of an Avengers movie!

I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic about this. Norton does have some writing talent and he is a good actor. I'm more concerned about how the CGI will play out than anything else about the movie and judging from the latest trailer, staying cautiously optimistic is becoming ...difficult. I do agree with PH though: it does seem much closer to the TV series and i'm quite happy about that.

I saw the trailer last night at Iron Man. I hate to ask this, but does Tim Roth's character turn into the "Abomination"?

The CGI looks pretty bad, my wife goes why can't it look more real like King Kong or the Transformers. I have to agree with her, Hulk looks pretty fake on the screen. Maybe they have a hard time making the color green look real?

They've taken certain liberties with the re-design of the Abomination..and rightly so. He tends to look much more like Doomsday from the Superman mythos. The explanation given for the new design was that it didn't make sense to have the Abomination have skin scales and fish ears, since he wasn't mutated with fish DNA and Gamma radiation. The trailer looks really good in the theaters. The CGI looks much better on big screen.

The CGI looks pretty bad, my wife goes why can't it look more real like King Kong or the Transformers. I have to agree with her, Hulk looks pretty fake on the screen. Maybe they have a hard time making the color green look real? Yes, and... No... It's a "mix" of factors... One reason it looks fake it's because, well, it IS! Is quite uncommon to see a giant green man in real life, but since it should "look" human (with human movements, expressions and human reactions), our eyes can "spot" what's wrong, this is the main reason why CGI actors still looks fake (ad they will need a looooot of time to looks real on the big and small screen), If you watch King Kong closely, you can see it will look fake too (fur and fast action scenes can "hide" that a little, but the close-ups are pretty "unforgiving"...), tranformers is another world, those are machines, so it's easier to make their "look" real, but as you can see the action scenes are all blurred and uber-fast (so, any potential "mistake" like intersecting parts and such is "disguised", yes, pun intented But there is another reason, do you remember the first ironman trailer, when he fires the small missile at the tank? That VFX was horrible, like a videogame, but the final version in the movie looks real, that's because it was a "work in progress", just to show something "tasty" to the audience, so, probably, the VFX in the movie will be more "refined" and Hulk will look more "real". But I'm really interested in the story this time, I have some faith in this movie (and I'm not even a Hulk fan! LOL
