I always thought that Indy went into Linguistics to please his father, but after meeting Abner (and presumably, Marion), went into Archeology in France, hence the tension between him and HJ, Sr. Or at least that is how I preceived it. It's actually the other way around, Archaeology first, Linguistics later. You should probably also list the full date on the diploma, and not just the year.

Okay. I changed the date, the Major, and the Department. How is this?

Excellent, except for one typo. It should be "Archaeology", not "Anthropology".

According to the email I received from the University of Chicago Archives, the study of Archeology is (and has always been) within the Department of Anthropology in the school of Social Sciences.
Kind of like when I got my degree in English, with a focus on Creative Writing. My Diploma only says "Bachelor of Arts in the Study of English." My transcripts show the focus. The same with my wife. Her BA says "Bachelor of Arts in History." But she focused on American History. A friend has a Bachelor's in Computer Science. It says: "Bachelor of Science Computer Science."
Going by these three examples from three different Universities and the information I received from the U of Chicago itself, I presented it as such.

That makes sense. So all past and current graduates of the U. of Chicago's Archaeology program have "Anthropology" on their diplomas? My son got a degree in Criminology, which is in the Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences, but his degree does state "Criminology". Just curious if the degree should state the specific field of study, or the department.

From what I gathered from the archivist's message, a degree in Archeology would read Anthropology. It is quite possible that they misinterpreted my question and gave me an answer that I was not seeking. But I just went with what I was told. However, it is not that hard of a fix.

Looking at it from the viewpoint of a prop collector, I think it would have more appeal if it read "Archaeology". Now your next assignment is to create Indy's Linguistics Doctorate Diploma from the Sorbonne. Fantastic job, by the way!

Thank you.
I have plans for his Graduate and Doctorate studies Diplomas, but there is a lot of research I have to put in to get them looking mostly authentic.
Consequently, if I were to change "Anthropology" to "Archeology" would be interested in acquiring one?

Indiana's middle name is Walton the same as his father. I believe it was stated in the first episode of the Young Indy Chronicles. I also found it on Wikipedia. Just in case you wanted to change that and loose the Junior. Your call.

I think that looks great, however, one detail:
I suspect that Indy's name whould not be typeset. They would most probably print up a big batch of certs with leader dots or something and someone would write in the name of the graduate with a nice calligraphic pen. This is the days WAY before DTP and being able to change every last thing on print. JMO.

Just in case you wanted to change that and loose the Junior. Your call. I just watched the beginning of the first episode again, and I believe his middle name is "Walden". My wife said the same thing when she first heard it as well. You could then abbreviate the "Junior". When you are finished with it, I would indeed like to receive a copy.

Wow! Lots of great info coming in. Big thanks to everyone.
I am considering adding the middle name (or at least the initial). But since most colleges let you choose the name to appear on your Diploma, I'm thinking: If I were Indy, what would I want on my degree?
So here is what I am proposing: I am offering customized Indy Diplomas. You can tell me what name you would prefer to see (for your own authenticity, since everyone might have a different idea), and so on. If you have already received one from me via email and want a new one with the aforementioned information, do not hasten to let me know and I will send one as quick as I can.

Okay, so I believe I have sent my Diplomas to dbcooper, Stefana Jones, belloq, indysenigma, and Falcon. If anyone else has asked for one and I have forgotten, PM me. And if you guys liked them, make sure to tell your friends.
And to everyone else, if you want one, PM me. You can request them to be set up the way you want. I'm just cool like that.

To address the questions being raised about customization:
You can have any of the following names:
Henry Jones, Junior Henry Jones, Jr. Henry W. Jones, Junior Henry W. Jones, Jr. Henry Walden Jones, Junior Henry Walden Jones, Jr. Henry Walton Jones, Junior Henry Walton Jones, Jr.
And you can choose from his Major;
Anthropology Archeology
You can choose the way the date is printed:
Year, Day, Month Year, Month, Day Month, Day, Year Day, Month, Year
I hope this helps eliminate any confusion.

I received and have printed out my Henry Walton Jones, Jr. diploma and it looks incredible. On the right paper there is no telling that it is fabricated. First rate job Nickhorro! My thanks to you for a great prop.

So I just read "Indiana Jones and the Peril at Delphi."
And for the record, it says on page 7:
"The intricate lithographic lettering on his diploma would say he was Henry Jones, Jr." So that answers that question.
Also, on page 32 it says:
"He was in his third year of a Ph.D. program that focused on ancient written languages." And on page 60, Indy says that his "field is linguistics, not archeology."
So there you have it. Indy got his BA from the University of Chicago in linguistics.
I will be offering an accurate Indy Diploma for anyone who wants one (especially those who received the previous one).
Just send me a PM if you want an accurate Indy Diploma.
Thanks,
Nick
